"Low blow from Kevin Harvick"; "Media loves to stir s**t up" - NASCAR fans react to Fox reporter's Dale Earnhardt Jr vs. Chase Elliott debate

Fox Sports' analyst Kevin Harvick recently put Denny Hamlin and his Joe Gibbs Racing teammates in a tough spot, asking them to pick the better driver between NASCAR's two most popular figures, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Chase Elliott.

In a recent episode of the Happy Hour podcast, the 2014 Cup Series champion interviewed Joe Gibbs Racing drivers including Hamlin, Ty Gibbs, Martin Truex Jr., and Christopher Bell. During the interview, Harvick presented the difficult question to the #11 JGR driver, asking him to choose between the NASCAR icons.

"Who's the better driver, Dale Jr. or Chase Elliott?" he said.

"That is wrong for you to ask me that." Hamlin said to which Harvick replied -"I told you it would be the hardest question you ever had to answer in your whole life."

Denny Hamlin didn't wish to answer the question, however, he ended up choosing Elliott. Subsequently, his teammates also leaned towards the #9 Hendrick Motorsports driver.

Kevin Harvick's controversial question drew criticism from NASCAR fans, who felt it was unfair to pit the two fan-favorite drivers against one another. One X (formerly Twitter) user commented that the question was "absolutely unnecessary":

"Absolutely unnecessary....low blow from @KevinHarvick out of everything he could ask why this...."

Another fan speculated that the Fox Sports reporter was aiming to stir up controversy.

Kevin Harvick stirs online debate picking between NASCAR legends

Following Kevin Harvick's intriguing conversation with the Joe Gibbs Racing drivers, NASCAR fans turned the spotlight on Harvick, urging him to pick the best driver among the former Cup champions.

One X user asked Harvick to pick the superior driver between the Busch brothers, to which he responded by choosing Kyle Busch.

"Answer this random fun question. Better driver: @KurtBusch or @KyleBusch?" Harvick chose the latter, replying "Kyle"

A second question soon followed, asking Kevin Harvick to decide between Hendrick Motorsports legends Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson. Harvick opted for four-time champion Gordon.
