When he's not at the racetrack on the pit box of one of his four full-time Cup Series cars, Rick Hendrick is a car guru with a litany of high-dollar automobiles. The owner of Hendrick Motorsports and car dealer has given fans an inside look at his car collection in the past.
Hendrick's first car was a 1931 Chevrolet in cherry red color. The champion NASCAR owner was only 13 years old when he paid $250 for the automobile in 1963. The car was restored years later and given to Hendrick as a 40th birthday present.
Hendrick also owns a 1963 black Corvette, the first of his Corvette collection. The 14-time Cup Series champion owner has the car on display in the Heritage Center located in Concord, North Carolina. Hendrick bought the car in 1971 and took his wife, Linda, on the couple's first date behind the wheel of the car.
Later on, Hendrick and his wife sold the car to help pay for his first car dealership. However, Hendrick found the car in 2000 and returned it to his possession. He and Linda took the old-school automobile for a spin in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Hendrick also owns a few cars that were once owned by celebrities and athletes. One of those is a 1967 red and black Corvette, once owned by the late singer Roy Orbison. In his collection, Hendrick also has a 1969 red Camaro once owned by famous baseball player Reggie Jackson.
One of the more unique additions to Hendrick's collection is a NASCAR stock car used in the Transformers movie. The car is painted exactly like Jimmie Johnson's old #48 Lowe's Chevrolet, equipped with the armor used in the Transformers movie.
Rick Hendrick's team Hendrick Motorsports announced a new sponsor for 2025
On the racing side, Rick Hendrick's team added another high-dollar sponsorship to the Hendrick Motorsports family with their announcement on Wednesday. Chase Elliott, driver of the #9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, will be sponsored by Sports on Prime for select races in the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season.
The organization announced via Instagram and revealed to their followers Elliott's new look for 2025. They wrote.
"A relationship built for the fast lane! Proud to team up with @sportsonprime in 2025. See the schedule at the link in bio or hendrickmotorsports.com."
HMS fields four full-time Cup Series entries with Elliott in the #9, Alex Bowman in the #48, Kyle Larson in the #5, and William Byron in the #24. The organization won 11 races in 2024, led by Larson who scored a season-high six wins.
Byron was the sole HMS driver to make this past season's Championship 4 race. However, he finished third among the title contenders.
