Kurt Busch has honored Martin Truex Jr. and David Wilson on Instagram. In celebration of Truex Jr. and Wilson’s careers, Busch posted an IG story wherein he and Lyda Moore were “air” driving, with the driver bantering that his girlfriend wanted to go racing.
Busch is a former NASCAR driver who last competed in the Cup Series behind the wheel of a Toyota for 23XI Racing. Both Martin Truex Jr. and David Wilson are also part of Toyota. The former is a Toyota driver, while the latter is the president of TRD (Toyota Development Racing), the motorsports arm of the Japanese automaker.
Per Kurt Busch’s Instagram story, the 46-year-old driver paid respects to the two Toyota motorsports representatives.
“Career Celebration @davidwilson & @martintruex_jr,” Busch wrote.
The Las Vegas native also said Moore wanted to race as they were pretending to drive as a fun joke.
“@ligerlou wants to race!,” Busch added.
With the conclusion of the 2024 season, Martin Truex Jr. has officially retired from full-time competition in the Cup Series. Truex Jr. entered his last race as a full-time driver at Phoenix Raceway in the No. 19 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing. He earned pole position for the race but finished 17th.
The 2017 NASCAR Cup Series champ still plans to race in 2025 as a part-time driver. However, the 44-year-old denied reports suggesting he would go racing at the Daytona 500 with 23XI Racing.
While the driver said he was in talks with Joe Gibbs, the team already has the maximum entries at four. As such, it would be interesting to see how the part-time schedule pans out.
Meanwhile, David Wilson will retire on December 16 after 35 years with the organization. General Manager Tyler Gibbs, not related to NASCAR team owner Joe Gibbs, will take over as president of TRD.
As for Kurt Busch, the driver hinted at his return to racing earlier this month, though he remained mum about the details.
Kurt Busch took girlfriend Lyda Moore to NFL game
Earlier this month, Kurt Busch spent a day with his girlfriend Lyda Moore to watch an NFL game in Chicago. The couple went to see the Chicago Bears home game against the Green Bay Packers, a team the Bears never won against since December 2018.
Busch shared the moment on X, posing for a photo-op with Moore while wearing Chicago Bears merch.
“Took Lyda to Da Bears Game,” the driver wrote.
The 2004 NASCAR Cup Series champion thanked the McCasky family, the owner of the Chicago-based NFL team, before expressing support for the Bears.
“Thanks to the McCasky Family […] Bear Down!”
At the conclusion of the game, the Green Bay Packers won against the Chicago Bears 20-19. Packers' sophomore defensive lineman Karl Brooks sealed the game after blocking Bears kicker Cairo Santos’ field goal attempt.
