Trackhouse Racing announced on Saturday that it has signed a sponsorship deal with WeatherTech for 36 Cup Series and Xfinity Series races. WeatherTech is to become Shane van Gisbergen's primary sponsor for the 2025 Cup Series season, and Connor Zilisch's primary sponsor for the same season's Xfinity Series races. As Justin Marks' team announced the deal, fans reacted on social media.
Van Gisbergen is to race for Trackhouse Racing in the #88 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 next season, while Zilisch has signed up for the same number's Chevrolet but in the Xfinity Series. The deal means that WeatherTech will be visible on both #88 cars on Saturdays and Sundays during race weekends.
Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports, confirmed the commitment on X. He wrote:
"Trackhouse announces that WeatherTech to sponsor 36 races as a primary combined for Shane van Gisbergen and Connor Zilisch in Cup and Xfinity next year (so 36 races overall with the two series)."
Headquartered in Bolingbrook, Illinois, WeatherTech is an American company and a leading manufacturer of premium automotive accessories. The company also produces home and pet care products. Interestingly, this isn't its first big-stock car racing move, as it has been the title sponsor for IMSA since 2016.
As WeatherTech made its commitment with Trackhouse Racing on van Gisbergen and Zilisch, fans reacted on X. Below are some reactions:
"You don't get big commitment like that anymore. Massive win for Trackhouse."
Another fan wrote, reiterating the same, "A full schedule of sponsorship between the two. That’s a lot of commitment by WeatherTech!"
"Wow it been years since you heard a sponsor doing that!!! I hope more will do that I would love Lowes or Home Depot to come back to NASCAR," wrote another fan on WeatherTech's commitment to Trackhouse Racing.
Another fan wrote on WeatherTech's logo following the long-term commitment, "No wonder their logo is a massive W."
A fan hailed and supported the move with one word. They wrote, "W."
Another fan wrote about the sponsorship difference between Shave van Gisbergen and Connor Zilisch, "it took me a while to realize that this meant they are supporting SVG in Cup, and Zilisch in Xfinity."
Shane van Gisbergen and Connor Zilisch of Trackhouse Racing comment on WeatherTech commitment
Shane van Gisbergen and Connor Zilisch also shared their reactions after WeatherTech agreed to sponsor Trackhouse Racing for 36 races. Here is what SVG, the native of New Zealand, said about the latest commitment:
"WeatherTech has been in racing a long time and they understand what it takes to succeed in the marketplace as well as on the race track."
"WeatherTech has been part of racing ever since I started,” Zilisch said. "WeatherTech has played such a significant role in the success of sports car racing in America so I feel honored I can carry their brand to the Xfinity Series. Plus, I love the paint scheme and hope to have it near the front on Saturdays and then watch Shane on Sundays in 2025.”
Currently, Shane van Gisbergen is competing full-time in the Xfinity Series, part-time in the Cup Series, and ARCA Menards Series.
Connor Zilisch is also taking part in select races of Xfinity Series, Truck Series, ARCA Menards, CARS Tour, Trans-Am Series, IMSA SportsCar Championship, and Global MX-5 Cup.
