Dale Earnhardt Jr. recently hosted his close friend Martin Truex Jr. on his podcast show. And it was during their conversation that Dale Junior opened up on his favorite moment with the soon-to-retire Joe Gibbs Racing driver.

The moment in the subject came during the celebrations of Truex winning the Cup title in 2017, which also happened to be Junior's last race as a full-timer.

Speaking on the Dale Jr. Download, Dale Earnhardt Jr. recalled that he told his crew after the race, that they'd have some beer at the car. He went to the victory lane to look for Truex, walked up, and smacked him in the chest.

But little did Junior know that there was a mic stuck on Truex's chest with a needle sticking out. And although Truex reminded Earnhardt Jr. of the same, by the time he did, it was too late.

Having said that, Dale Earnhardt Jr. mentioned how happy he was for Truex for achieving what he himself could never achieve in his NASCAR career.

"I never got to know what it was to win at the level. Win championship at that level, and I was so happy that you got to do that," Earnhardt said.

The NASCAR Hall of Famer further spoke about the little detail he caught in a video of Truex's celebrations, a heartwarming moment that stood out to him.

"A friend that’s in the NASCAR production sent me this little clip, and you’re on stage. You said to somebody next to you, "Where’s Dale?" In everything that’s going on in your world in that moment for you to think of me and wonder where I was at and when I’m going to come over and see you, meant the world to me, man. That was my favorite Martin Truex Jr. moment," Junior claimed.

Martin Truex Jr. expressed his gratitude towards Dale Earnhardt Jr. after winning his Cup title

Speaking after the biggest moment of his career, Martin Truex Jr. didn't forget to express his gratitude towards his former boss and friend Dale Earnhardt Jr. After winning the 2017 NASCAR Cup title at Homestead, Truex claimed he wouldn't be where he was without Dale Jr.

"I wouldn’t be here today without him. My path would surely be different. There’s a lot of things that would be different if it wasn’t for Dale," Truex said.

Before the talent of Martin Truex Jr. as a racecar driver became clear to the world, it was Dale Earnhardt Jr. who saw it in him. He convinced Truex to come to North Carolina and gave him an opportunity to drive for his Xfinity team, Chance 2 Motorsports.

He claimed that Earnhardt was "an amazing friend", one who had always been there for him. Truex mentioned he saw Junior being "genuinely happy" in the victory lane after his Cup title.

The #19 driver added that he loves Earnhardt Jr. "like a brother."
