Katelyn Sweet, Kyle Larson's wife, recently shared an Instagram post showcasing the newly-designed micro sprint car their son Owen will drive at the Tulsa Shootout. Owen will compete in the indoor racing event along with his father Kyle as part of another renowned father-son racing duo in the making.
Kyle Larson (who is worth $12M according to Celebrity Net Worth) is a 32-year-old NASCAR Cup Series driver for Hendrick Motorsports. Outside NASCAR, Larson races on dirt, and the upcoming Tulsa Shootout will witness him enter the event with his 10-year-old son, Owen.
Per Instagram, Katelyn Sweet-Larson shared a post on her story, displaying her son's racecar for the Tulsa Shootout.
The No. 83 micro sprint car comes with liveries from FloRacing, Pristine Auction, Guhl Motors, and CB Industries, Owen's race team. It will enter two of the six classes of the event.
CB Industries also shared its fleet for the Tulsa Shootout on their Instagram account.
"Merry Christmas! Today we celebrate and enjoy family, but next week we race! @tulsashootout," CB Industries wrote.
Meanwhile, his father Kyle Larson will enter the No. 83k racecar in four classes including Winged Outlaw and Non-Wing Outlaw. He will come on the heels of the Kubota High Limit race in Australia as part of the sport's initiative to reach more global audience.
The other father-son duo entering the Tulsa Shootout is Kyle Busch and his son Brexton. Kyle will compete in the No. 51b micro sprint car in four classes, while Brexton will pilot the No. 18b car in two classes.
The Tulsa Shootout will be held at the SageNet Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The indoor racing event will run from December 31 to January 4, 2025.
The two NASCAR drivers will later go up against each other in the 2025 Chili Bowl Nationals. The so-called 'Superbowl of Midget Racing' will happen at the same venue as the Tulsa Shootout from January 12 to 18. It will witness Busch's debut in the event.
Kyle Larson's wife Katelyn shares 10th birthday post for son Owen
Ahead of the Tulsa Shootout, Owen Larson celebrated his 10th birthday on December 22. His mom Katelyn took to Instagram to wish him a happy birthday coupled with a compilation of him throughout the years.
Katelyn Larson wrote:
"Happy 10th Birthday sweet boy! @owenlarson01 🧡."
Owen Larson had an eventful year in the world of racing. Earlier this year, the young driver won his first junior sprint race at Coles County Speedway. Driving the No. 81 car, he beat Levi Ballard and Noah Betts, respectively, to earn his maiden win.
The father and son also shared moments in NASCAR. Owen climbed on top of Kyle's No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro after the Hendrick Motorsports star won the Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Later in the season, Owen sat on the No. 5 Chevy while Kyle drove around the Bristol Motor Speedway in victory. However, the Bristol night race celebration had Katelyn worried for her kid.
"I was just worried that he was hanging on to the lip of the roof and I'm like 'Gosh just put your arm under there and hang on to like the roll bar or something' but I actually was nervous. I usually am not um but yeah, Kyle said, 'I was hanging on to him, he was fine.'" Katelyn said via NASCAR Daily Show. [04:18]
