Bubba Wallace's spotter has jibed at the drivers for their inability to restart the race without wrecking each other. The Ally 400 at the Nashville Superspeedway went under an unexpected 31-lap extension after multiple cautions during the overtime hindered the debacle's proceeding.

The event produced quite a chaotic battle during the 19th Cup Series race weekend. After the first stage went completely green and the second stage witnessed some cautions, the 38-car-pack geared up for the final stage. But shortly before the white flag lap, Austin Cindric and Noah Gragson collided and a caution was issued. Before Joey Logano finally sealed his maiden victory this season, the race underwent under five overtime restarts.

The first one kicked off with Denny Hamlin in the lead but Kyle Larson's misjudged move spun out Ross Chastain. On the second overtime, a multi-car pileup ensued on the backstretch, and the field was reset. The third overtime saw Kyle Busch getting stuck between the Hendrick Motorsports duo- Larson and Chase Elliott, spinning out immediately after the green flag.

During the fourth overtime, Stewart-Haas Racing's Josh Berry spun and collided into the Turn 2 wall, bringing out the final caution. Finally, in the fifth overtime attempt, Joey Logano mastered the fuel conservation and carved the path to the victory lane.

While the five overtimes and the resulting lead changes enhanced the uncertainties of who the race winner would be, Bubba Wallace spotter Freddie Kraft didn't like the race going into repeated overtime. He believed the extended race resulted in a huge loss to the real estate of the teams.

"It's not the most entertaining finish but if you don't do that, you end up with what we had last night where just millions and millions of dollars of s**t got torn up because we can't figure out how to restart without running into each other," Kraft said via Door Bumper Clear on YouTube (12.43).
"If the race is 300 laps, that's it. If you want maybe one attempt a green white checkered but this is what happens when you have unlimited attempts, we just have unlimited wrecks running each other over," he added.

"It's hard man"- Bubba Wallace opens up on his regular season as he lingers below the playoff cutline

After finishing the last five races outside the top 10, Bubba Wallace claimed a seventh-place finish at the 1.33-mile oval as the 300-lap run turned into a 331-lap affair. With that, the 23XI Racing driver has three top-5s and six top-10s in his arsenal. However, he has no stage win or a race win from this season and thus, holds zero playoff points.

While the 30-year-old is currently seated 15th in the regular season standings, he is below the playoff cutline in 17th place. Moreover, only seven races are left before the Round of 16 roster is set, and Bubba Wallace has to collect playoff points to pull himself above the threshold and keep him among the top 16 drivers.

Before kicking off his Nashville run, Bubba Wallace reflected on his challenging regular season, saying.

"It's a little bit of both, I've tried to come into this year way more prepared than I have been. Studying more film, being more attentive in the meetings, asking I would think more of the right questions, we are just asking more questions in general. It's hard man, we are fighting for 1000th of an inch that's what it's all about," he said via Bob Pockrass on X.

So far 11 different drivers have won a race and the remaining five drivers in the playoffs are without a win. So, if Bubba Wallace could rake in a victory in the upcoming regular season weekends, he would meet the criteria of becoming a race winner and would significantly improve his chances of entering the playoffs.
