In a recent report in the Sports Business Journal, it was reported that NASCAR is working on new provisions pertaining to foreign investment. Adam Stern of SBJ mentioned that the governing body of stock car racing is currently working towards potentially banning sovereign investment funds from the sport.

This was a subject recently raised to Jeff Gluck in a Dirty Mo Media video, where the NASCAR insider was asked whether teams are frustrated with this development in the charter negotiations.

"I don't think so because at least I'm not aware of some team that was like, 'Oh, let's take a $100 million from the Saudis and reshape our team,'" Gluck said. [8:25]

He further described that Jim France didn't want potential investors from Saudi coming in, handing a blank cheque, in exchange of power and influence in the sport.

"That'd be a hard thing to pass up. Look at these golfers on the LIV Tour. When you throw a bunch of money at somebody you can have all your principles and stuff and say, 'We have our morals and we're not going to get in bed with those kind of people that have had these regimes' but man, money sure talks," he claimed.

With that said, Jeff Gluck emphasized that in his opinion, teams aren't pushing back against NASCAR adding these new provisions. But to Gluck, it was a proactive and preemptive kind of move from NASCAR's end to add a provision to overrule or not allow certain things in the sport.

Denny Hamlin revealed the cost of running a NASCAR team in the Next Gen era

Speaking about the charter negotiations earlier this year, Denny Hamlin shared his thoughts on what the teams are demanding from NASCAR. In a conversation with Kenny Wallace, the 23XI Racing co-owner claimed that the teams are trying to communicate a sense of team spirit and working together with the governing body.

Hamlin claimed that the teams are offering NASCAR rights to have a give and take relationship with the governing body the way it happens in the NBA, the NFL, or the MLB.

"We have our own sponsors that NASCAR will send their own sponsorship proposal, to try to get them to spend money with them, but we need them the most because of our business model. It costs us $18 million a year to put a car on the racetrack. We've asked NASCAR to just cover our cost, nothing more just cover our cost to go put on this show for you, and the answer has been repeatedly no," Hamlin added.

Hamlin added that given the fact that no negotiations ever go easy, one of the party will have to adjust and "feel the pain" for the greater good.

The Joe Gibbs Racing driver added that as per him, NASCAR doesn't feel threatened by teams "whatsoever."
