Kyle Petty shared a picture of a vintage racing jacket that his wife Morgan Petty gifted him for Christmas. The off-white jacket featured graphics from Daytona Beach in Florida and also a sewn NASCAR Winston Cup Series logo, which was used between the 1970s and the early 2000s.
Christmas Eve was rather wholesome for former racing driver Petty as he shared the gift on social media. He called it the "coolest present." What made the jacket even more special is the fact that it is likely from the 70s or the 80s and was never worn before, a collectible for someone who indulged in motorsports like Petty.
"Morgan got me the coolest present ever! Never been worn!"
The couple also celebrated their ninth marriage anniversary recently. Petty married Morgan in 2015, three years after splitting up with Pattie Petty.
Kyle competed in the NASCAR Cup Series between 1979 and 2008. He spent the final stint of his career racing for Petty Enterprises, piloting the #45 Dodge. He currently serves as a broadcaster for the sport. He can be seen during the pre and post-race shows of the Xfinity Series. He is also the Emeritus Chairman of Victory Junction.
Kyle Petty marks a "big day" as Richard Petty makes a generous donation to Victory Junction
Victory Junction offers camping and other 'life-changing' activities to differently-abled children. This was built on Adam Petty's vision. He was Kyle Petty's son, whose life was cut short due to an unfortunate crash during a practice session at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2000.
Victory Junction is based in Randleman, North Carolina. All the activities offered to the children are free of cost and the camp is run with the help of donations and other financial backing.
Recently, Kyle's father and NASCAR legend Richard Petty made a monumental 403-acre land donation to the organization. Sharing the post on social media, Kyle called it a "big day" for Victory Junction.
"Today was a big day for our family. 403 additional acres donated to @VictoryJunction," Kyle Petty stated on X.
Kyle Petty aims to keep the camp running for the next century. In a statement, he mentioned that seeing the children smile at the camp brings him joy, and he claims that he can feel his late son Adam's spirit with them.
"When I see the joy and the smiles this camp brings to kids and their families, I can still feel Adam’s giving spirit and see his smile. I want to make sure Camp is here in 100 years, and we hope this gift inspires others to support Victory Junction so that it remains a place of joy for generations to come," he said in a statement.
