NASCAR fans reacted to the news of Richard Childress Racing picking Ty Dillon as the driver of the No. 33 Chevrolet for this year's Brickyard 400 on July 21 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, alongside his brother, Austin Dillon. The older Dillon brother will drive the #3 machine at the 2.589-mile racetrack.
It will be Ty Dillon's first NASCAR Cup Series start for Richard Childress Racing since 2015. This time around, Ty Dillon will pair with Keith Rodden, the former crew chief for Austin Dillon. Justin Alexander has recently been named as the new crew chief for the #3 team.
Confirming the news of Ty Dillon wheeling the #33 car, renowned journalist Austin Konenski wrote on X:
"Ty Dillon will drive the No. 33 car for Richard Childress Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This is Dillon’s first Cup Series start with Richard Childress Racing since 2015. Keith Rodden will be the crew chief.

According to a report by Forbes, Ty Dillon has made over 300 starts so far in NASCAR's touring series. Throughout his career, he has raced for several notable teams like Germain Racing, Gaunt Brothers Racing, Petty GMS, and Spire Motorsports.
Ty Dillon on his part-time NASCAR Cup Series program with Kaulig Racing
The 32-year-old joined Kaulig Racing on a part-time schedule as the driver of the No. 16 car. The car was previously driven by former Cup Series regular, AJ Allmendinger, and has visited the victory lane twice in the past; thanks to Allmendinger.
Dillon was slated to run 5 races with Kaulig. His 2024 stint with the team started with the Cup Series race at Richmond Raceway and continued to Texas Motor Speedway, and most recently at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Dillon is expected to drive the car again at Richmond in August. His last race with the car will be at Kansas Speedway in September.

"This is the highest level of our sport and allows me to go out and prove what I can do with great leaders in Matt Kaulig, Chris Rice, Travis Mack, and the entire team. Besides his Cup career duties, Ty Dillon is a full-time driver for Rackley W.A.R. Racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. He is currently 19th in the Truck Series standings with 249 points to his name.
