Connor Zilisch recently looked back at the 2024 year and termed it as his 'biggest year yet'. The 18-year-old motorsports prodigy is set to mark his debut Xfinity Series run for JR Motorsports at Watkins Glen on 14 September.
The Trackhouse team shared a video snippet of Zilisch recollecting his precious moment with the team. Elaborating on his past experiences this year, the 18-year-old said:
"I was given the opportunity to join Trackhouse racing as a development driver. And quite honestly, it was an opportunity that, at the time, I could not turn down. I don't play a big role in Trackhouse right now, but still getting the opportunity. I go to sim, and I try and sit in on meetings when I can, and just kind of take in as much as I can."
Zilisch also highlighted that his teammates Ross Chastain and Daniel Suárez often guide and mentor him for his upcoming prospects. He further highlighted that he turns to his teammates for any advice knowing they'll lead him to the righteous path.
Zilisch shares a special bond with #1 driver Ross Chastain and the duo often goes bike riding on the weekends. The 18-year-old driver feels lucky to be part of the Trackhouse team at such a young age and to have such experienced drivers in his corner.
Many NASCAR legends have praised Zilisch's performance including Dale Earnhardt Jr. Dale Jr. expressed that Connor is an impressive driver and he is excited to see him performance next year.
"He is on a path to sure success with support from Chevrolet, Silver Hare Racing, Trackhouse, and now JR Motorsports," Earnhardt Jr. added.
Deals Connor Zilisch made in 2024
The 18-year-old's deal with Trackhouse was about developing his skills and preparing him for stock car racing. According to NASCAR's report, the multi-year deal includes select Cars Tour, ARCA Menards Series, Trans Am, and IMSA races, along with NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and Xfinity Series for Connor Zilisch in 2024 and 2025.
Acknowledging the role played by the organization in his development, the youngster said:
"I can’t thank Justin (Marks, team founder and owner) and everyone at Trackhouse Racing enough for giving me this opportunity. It has been a pleasure to spend the last two years racing with Chevrolet, and I am thrilled to extend that relationship. I have a lot to learn, but I don’t think there is a better place for me to learn than with Trackhouse Racing."
Around last month, Connor Zilisch signed a new deal with JR Motorsports and as a part of the deal, he will be racing three more races. Kansas Speedway on 28 September, Homestead-Miami Speedway on 26 October, and Phoenix Raceway on 9 November are other venues.
