Chase Briscoe got caught in a wreck on lap 56 of Sunday's Quaker State 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. After being checked and released from the infield care center, the Stewart-Haas Racing driver dropped an update on his health as he spoke to the reporters.

The Ford pilot was running 14th before the crash took place. Hendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson suddenly got loose and took a big hit against the outside SAFER barrier. Briscoe, who was coming right off of turn 1, did not expect anyone to wreck as the field was not even two-wide at the time.

"I just kept trying to feed the thing left to slow it down and I just couldn’t get left quick enough," Briscoe recalled. "Got a big hit, one of the biggest hits I've had in a long time."

When asked how he was feeling, Briscoe said,

"I'm good. My private area hurts pretty hard at first when I hit. But other than that I'm totally good; everything feels fine. I'm glad my ankles didn't get messed up. The brake pedal and everything went through the floorboard. So thankful I'm alright, for sure."

However, Chase Briscoe suffered his 4th DNF of the season as he had to settle for a P38 finish behind Larson, who finished 37th. The Mitchell, Indiana native, sits 16th in the Cup Series standings with 2006. Larson, on the other hand, sits 10th with 2041 points.

Chase Briscoe confident ahead of races at Watkins Glen and Bristol Motor Speedway

Chase Briscoe was confident as he spoke with the reporters about which of the two remaining races in the Round of 16 he could win. The Ford pilot currently sits 21 points behind the elimination line. Therefore, he needs to either win a race or try to gather enough points to make it out of the bubble.

"I think we're gonna be really good. Bristol," said Briscoe of the upcoming races. "We've started in the top 3 or 4 there for the last three times...Obviously, we have really good speed, we've tested there about a month and a half ago and then, the road courses we've always been really good."
"And then with the fall off that they're talking about at Watkins Glen, I think we're gonna be in good shape. I feel like we can go (for) any of the two," he added.

Chase Briscoe has four career starts at Bristol Motor Speedway where his best performance is a pair of P13 finishes (2021 and 2024). However, he does have a top-10 finish in 2021 at Watkins Glen International.

Fans can watch Briscoe in action next week (September 15) at "The Glen". The 90-lap race will start at 3:00 PM ET onwards and will stream live on NBC Sports and USA. Radio updates will be available on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
