The Cook Out 400 is set to take place at the Richmond Raceway on Sunday, August 11. The 300-mile race will be telecast on NBC Sports and USA Network at 6 pm ET. This will be the first race after a two-week Olympic break.

Located in Richmond, Virginia, it will be the 23rd race of the 2024 NASCAR season and will see the Next Gen car in action for the sixth time at the Richmond track. Cook Out 400 is divided into three stages: Stage 1 ends on lap 80, Stage 2 consists of 155 laps, and the Final Stage consists of 165 laps.

The Richmond Raceway is a 0.75-mile asphalt short track featuring 14 degrees of banking in turns 1-4; eight degrees on the frontstretch and two degrees on the backstretch. This track is similar to an intermediate track but races like a short track.

It hosted its first NASCAR Cup Series race at the Richmond in 1953. Speedy Thompson was the winner of the inaugural Cook Out 400 at Richmond Raceway.

It will be the 136th Cup Series race hosted by Richmond Raceway. The 37 drivers entering this week’s Cup Series race will compete across 400 laps in 300 miles. The Cup Series weekend will begin with a practice session on Saturday (August 10), followed by qualifying sessions and the main event on Sunday.

Chris Buescher and RFK Racing enter as the defending winners after securing a thrilling victory in last year’s Richmond summer race.

NASCAR legend Richard Petty holds the record for most Cook Out 400 wins with seven. He won the event in 1967–1968, 1970–1974. Petty is followed by Bobby Allison, with five wins.

Denny Hamlin, Martin Truex Jr., and Brad Keselowski are the only active drivers who have won the Richmond summer race multiple times. Hamlin has three wins, while Truex Jr. and Keselowski share two wins each.
