NASCAR 2024: Full weekend schedule for FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway

The FireKeepers Casino 400 is set to take place at the Michigan International Speedway on Sunday, August 18. The 400-mile race will be telecast on NBC Sports and USA Network at 2:30 pm ET.

Located in Brooklyn, Michigan, it will be the 24th race of the 2024 NASCAR season and will see the Next Gen car in action for the third time at Michigan. FireKeepers Casino 400 is divided into three stages: Stage 1 ends on lap 45, Stage 2 consists of 75 laps, and the Final Stage consists of 80 laps.

The Michigan International Speedway is a 2.0-mile-long D-shaped oval track featuring 18 degrees of banking in turns, 12 degrees of banking at the start/finish line, and five degrees of banking at the Backstretch.

It hosted its first NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan in 1969. Cale Yarborough won the inaugural FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

It will be the 107th Cup Series race hosted by Michigan International Speedway. The 36 drivers entering this week’s Cup Series race will compete across 200 laps in 400 miles. The Cup weekend will begin with a practice session on Saturday (August 17), followed by qualifying sessions and the main event on Sunday.

Chris Buescher and RFK Racing enter as the defending winners after securing a thrilling victory in last year’s Michigan race.

NASCAR legend Cale Yarborough holds the record for most FireKeepers Casino 400 wins with six. He won the event in 1969–1970, 1977–1978, 1982–1983. David Pearson and Bill Elliott follow Yarborough with four wins each.

Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano are the only active drivers who have won the Michigan Cup race multiple times. Hamlin and Logano both have two wins each.
