The Atlanta Motor Speedway is ready to host the 55th annual Quaker State 400 this weekend. The first playoff race of the season begins at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, September 8, in a 400-mile action-packed contest.
Located in Hampton, Georgia, the Atlanta Motor Speedway boasts a 1.54-mile-long quad-oval intermediate track. The track hosted the first Southern 500 in 1960 and had 24 degrees of banking in the turns and five degrees on the straightaway.
Apart from making its second appearance on the Cup Series calendar this year, the Atlanta Motor Speedway will host the Xfinity Series race this weekend.
Quaker State 400 will feature 38 drivers. Unlike other NASCAR races, the qualifying session will open the race weekend on Saturday, September 7, at 12:30 pm ET on USA Network to determine the starting positions for the NASCAR Cup Series playoff opener.
