Former NASCAR drivers, Parker Kligerman and Landon Cassill recently discussed Josh Berry's performance this season in the No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford.
Berry replaced Kevin Harvick in the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series for his first full-time season and ended the year in 27th place with two top-five and four top-10 finishes. The 34-year-old raced full-time for JR Motorsports in the Xfinity Series for the past two seasons.
During the "Money Lap" podcast, Kligerman and Cassill graded Berry and talked about his best moments.
"I thought he did well...I mean, to inherit a ride from a legend in a lame duck year for a team," Cassill said (01:38 onwards).
Berry had a 25th-place finish at the Daytona 500 but later finished third in Darlington and North Wilkesboro.
"I’ll give him a C...I’m just trying to think. I’m trying to think of the best moments. You know, some of his best moments were what? Daytona in July?... He did not win a race," Kligerman added about Josh Berry's season.
Berry was also involved in a big crash at Daytona in August. He flipped his car and hit the wall during the later stages of the Coke Zero Sugar 400.
With Stewart-Haas Racing closing at the end of the season, Josh Berry will move to Wood Brothers Racing in 2025.
"I wouldn't have believed that I was replacing Kevin Harvick" - Josh Berry on NASCAR experience so far
Josh Berry signed a multi-year deal with the Wood Brothers Racing, which is affiliated with the 2024 championship-winning team Team Penske with Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney, and Austin Cindric.
Berry spoke about his experience in NASCAR during an interview with the Wood Brothers team in July and said:
"Four years ago, I was racing late models, building late models, driving my truck and trailer to the racetrack, racing with one of my buddies all over the Southeast. Getting an opportunity to go drive in the Xfinity Series and now the Cup Series. I mean, I'm still really grateful to be here and have this opportunity." (00:12)
"I think back to who I was five years ago, and to tell that person that I would be sitting here with Lynn, Eddie Wood, and John, getting ready to go drive the 21 car, I wouldn't believe it. You know, I just, like, I wouldn't have believed that I was replacing Kevin Harvick," he added.
Berry will replace Harrison Burton, who had driven the No. 21 car since 2022 and got the team its 100th win at Daytona this year. Motorcraft and Quick Lube will stay as main sponsors for the car next season.
