NASCAR is not just about racing on weekends for Hailie Deegan; it is an entire lifestyle. However, it is a hectic one. Being a NASCAR driver requires paying a heavy toll on the body, be it from constant traveling or from driving stock cars at dare-devilish speed. Luckily, Deegan has a special workout regimen to keep herself fit and healthy.
In one of her recent Snapchat stories, Hailie Deegan revealed a leg exercise that she feels is the most awkward one on 'Leg days'. Known as standings calf raises, the exercise trains and strengthens one's calves, which play a major role in controlling the accelerator, brakes, and clutch while driving a stock car.
With that said, Deegan finds the posture of holding two plates in each hand and going up and down solely using her calves "awkward". Reflecting on the same, she said (as reported on X),
"Calf raises are the most awkward leg workout. Can't convince me otherwise 😂."
Nevertheless, Hailie Deegan never fails to hit the gym. She loves working out regularly. In an earlier interview with ARCA Racing, the former AM Racing driver explained that working out helps her channel the inner emotions that build up inside her while racing, or when she's having a bad day.
"I love working out," she said. "I feel like I get a lot of emotions built up racing. It's a very emotional sport. So working out is the way I can take it out. Boxing I love it. If I have a bad race, that's how I take it out."
Hailie Deegan is on her first full-time NASCAR Xfinity Series season. She is currently ranked 29th in the NASCAR Xfinity Series standings with 174 points to her name and has made 17 starts this year so far. However, following her abrupt exit from AM Racing, Deegan's future team remains unknown for now.
Hailie Deegan talks about her caffeine addiction
Like a true gym rat, Hailie Deegan is addicted to pre-workout. So much so that on race days, she tends to consume multiple scoops of the energy stimulant, the main ingredient of which is caffeine anhydrous.
In the previous interview with ARCA Racing, Deegan revealed that she always has a bottle with two or even three scoops of pre-workout inside her car.
"I always drink a lot of pre-workout. It's probably a problem and I know when I don't have any I get a headache, but I live off of caffeine and coffee," Deegan said. "Before a race, I always get a double or triple scoop of pre-workout and put it inside my bottle for my car, but I always end up drinking it under one caution at the very beginning."
Besides pre-workout, Deegan is also addicted to food, especially pizza and sushi. Recalling the time when she went up to a Pizza Kitchen kick in California, Deegan told renowned journalist Jeff Gluck:
"I went there and ate a gluten-free pizza like every single day. And now I'm on this P.F. Chang's kick. But like, I'm on a sushi kick too; I love sushi. And honestly, I love Mexican food. I love everything. Everything!"
Meanwhile, the NASCAR Xfinity Series prepares to hit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, a 2.589-mile racetrack better known as "The Brickyard" on Sunday, July 20. The 65-lap event will air live from 3:30 pm (ET) onwards on the USA Network with radio updates on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
