After a two-week Olympic break, the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series returns to action in Richmond, Virginia, with Cook Out 400.
The 23rd race of the season is expected to be exciting as the Next Gen car will run for the sixth time at the Richmond Raceway. All drivers taking the field will be racing to win Sunday’s (August 11) 400-lap race at the 0.75-mile-short D-shaped oval track.
Along with the win, there will be monetary rewards for the winners across NASCAR’s all three national series. In 2024, the Cup Series race at the Richmond Raceway boasts a prize pool of $7,925,121.
Meanwhile, the Truck Series races will reward the winner with $744,784.
Live action of the Richmond Cup race can be enjoyed live on NBC Sports, USA Network, Peacock, and MRN. It will be broadcast on Sunday at 6 pm ET.
What is Cook Out 400 prize money for 2024?
All 37 drivers participating across NASCAR’s two national series will compete for monetary incentives this weekend in Richmond, Virginia.
Renowned FOX Sports journalist Bob Pockrass tweeted the total prize pool that will be up for grabs this weekend at Richmond across the Cup and Truck Series:
“Purses for Richmond weekend, including all payouts, all positions, all charter payouts based on participating and historical performance, contingency awards, etc.: Cup: $7,925,121 Truck: $744,784”
Cook Out 400 Prize Money Breakdown: How much will the winner make at the Richmond Raceway?
According to NASCAR journalist Bob Pockrass, the winner of the 2024 Cook Out 400 is likely to receive between eight and 10 percent of the total purse. The remaining purse will be divided among the full-time NASCAR Cup Series' 36 charter teams according to their finishing position, charter status, etc.
As per this assumption, the winner of Sunday's Cook Out 400 at Richmond will likely get eight to 10 percent of the overall prize money of $7,925,121, which means a check of around $500,000–700,000.
NASCAR Cup Series action begins with practice on Saturday (August 10) at 4:30 pm ET, followed by qualifying at 5:35 pm ET, while the main event is on Sunday. Practice and qualifying for the 23rd race can be watched live on NBC Sports.
