NASCAR Cup Series 2024: Full weekend schedule for South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

The South Point 400 will take place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday, October 20. The 400.5-mile race will be telecast on NBC Sports at 2:30 pm ET.

Located in Las Vegas, Nevada, it will be the 33rd race of the 2024 NASCAR season and the seventh of the 2024 NASCAR playoffs. It will see the Next Gen car in action for the sixth time at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The 267-lap race is divided into three stages. Stage 1 ends on lap 80, Stage 2 consists of 80 laps, and the final Stage consists of 107 laps.

The 1.5-mile intermediate quad-oval track features 20 degrees of banking in each turn and 9 degrees on the front and backstretch.

The Las Vegas Motor Speedway Roval hosted its first NASCAR Cup Series race in 1998, where NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee Mark Martin won the inaugural Las Vegas race.

It will be the seventh South Point 400, hosted by Las Vegas Motor Speedway Roval. The 37 drivers entering this week’s Cup Series race will compete across 267 laps in 400.5 miles. The NASCAR Cup Series weekend will begin with a practice and qualifying session on Saturday (October 19), followed by the main event the following day.

Hendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson will enter as the defending winner of the event after a thrilling victory in last year’s Las Vegas fall race. Larson also won the Las Vegas spring race and is the favorite to win again this weekend.

After the uncertainty at Talladega Superspeedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway road course, playoff drivers will be pressured to perform well at Las Vegas to put themselves in a good position to qualify for the championship 4 race at Phoenix Raceway.
