Natalie Decker is living her life to the fullest. The NASCAR Xfinity Series driver, who will also be a mother soon, recently took to X and said that she was living the life she had always dreamt of as a teenager.
Decker hails from a family of racers. Her cousins Paige Decker and Claire Decker are former NASCAR competitors. The Decker family was also involved in snowmobile racing in the 1970s and 1980s.
Decker took part in NASCAR's Drive for Diversity program in 2015 and the Alan Kulwicki Driver Development the following year. In 2013, she received the honor of the ARCA Midwest Tour Rookie of the Year. Currently, she drives the No. 36 and No. 92 Chevy for DGM Racing, part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
Earlier this season, Decker snapped a record previously held by NASCAR trailblazer Danica Patrick by leading seven laps in a NASCAR race, a feat never achieved by a female driver since 2013. The Wisconsin native is on a temporary hiatus due to her pregnancy.
However, that does not mean she is not having fun. In the social media post mentioned earlier, the 27-year-old speedster wrote:
"If you would have told 14 year old Natalie that her future is married with a baby on the way and her life revolves around race cars she wouldn’t believe you… I AM LIVING OUT ALL OF MY DREAMS."
Decker is married to Derek Lemke, who is also a racecar driver. After being together for eight years, the duo engaged in December 2022 and finally tied the knot on 31 December 2023.
"I don't owe anybody an answer"- Natalie Decker shuns retirement rumors amid pregnancy announcement
Natalie Decker announced her pregnancy last month through another post on X. The post had four of her pictures with her husband holding an ultrasound image of their unborn child.
"A little bit of heaven sent down to earth making our little dream come true," Decker wrote.
When renowned journalist Toby Christie reposted the news, a fan commented,
"i’m glad she’s found happiness in retirement."
Decker responded to the comment, assuring her fans that she would return behind the wheel of her DGM Camaro next year.
"I don’t owe anybody an answer for anything, but I want to make one thing clear once a race car driver always a race car driver. I’ll be back in the car in 2025," Decker wrote.
As of today, Natalie Decker has 11 races under her belt throughout her four-year stint in the Xfinity Series. She has also competed in 32 Truck Series races over two seasons. According to The Spun, her career-best finish came in 2020 in the series opener at Daytona International Speedway, where she finished fifth.
