NASCAR Hall of Famers Richard Petty and Jimmie Johnson shared a video on Thursday, December 19 featuring them at the Legacy Motor Club holiday party, via the drivers' and the team's official Instagram. The two NASCAR legends stand back-to-back in a 360-degree photo booth, set to the song "I'm Good (Blue)" by David Guetta and Bebe Rexha.

The caption of the post read:

"Getting in the Holiday Spirit!"

Legacy Motor Club, founded by the entrepreneur Maury Gallagher, and Jimmie Johnson, was originally Petty GMS Motorsports - partly owned by 'The King' Petty. The 87-year-old now holds a chief ambassador position with the team and has no ownership stake in the club. Speaking to the media in 2023 after the rebranding, Petty said (via NBC Sports):

“Jimmie’s looking not necessarily at what’s going to happen this year, but he’s trying to lay a foundation for four or five years where he’s still young enough that he’s going to be around for a long, long time.”

Richard Petty and Jimmie Johnson are seven-time NASCAR champions. Petty is retired and his involvement in NASCAR is now his role with Legacy Motor Club. Johnson is still a part-time driver as recently as 2024. The 49-year-old had nine starts in the previous season.

Over its evolving history, Legacy Motor Club has achieved 20 cup championships and has been the home to drivers such as Bill Elliot, Bubba Wallace, and A.J. Allmendinger.

Richard Petty on Legacy Motor Club's 2024 performance

Earlier this year, in October, Petty shared a clip from his podcast 'Petty Race Recap' in which he spoke about Legacy Motor Club's poor performance. He was responding to a fan question, "What are you hoping to see Legacy MC accomplish during the final races of the year?"

“We hope they do a little bit better. I’ve said this before, I think starting the new season, first three-four races I thought we was in pretty good shape for, you know, going with Toyota for the first time, a new car, but I don’t know if we got worse or everybody else got better,” Richard Petty said.

In his response, Petty refers to Legacy Motor Club's decision to move from Chevrolet as its earlier manufacturer to Toyota for the 2024 season.

Legacy Motor Club had Erik Jones, John Hunter Nemechek, and Jimmie Johnson in its driver lineup last season. Between the three of them, Legacy Motor Club ended the season with one top-five and six top-10s in the Cup Series. They scored 516 points, 447 points, and 60 points respectively.
