Ty Majeski’s season ended by winning the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship and getting handed a $12,500 fine from NASCAR. Majeski failed to show up on the Playoffs Media Day (required for finalists) which violated NASCAR Rule Book’s Section 4.4A.

Majeski was in his hometown of Wisconsin to cast his vote on Election Day. Notably, neither Majeski nor his team, ThorSport Racing, had notified NASCAR about it beforehand. As per famous YouTuber and NASCAR enthusiast Eric Estepp, the lack of transparency is what led to the unusual situation.

Pulling out a post by journalist Bob Pockrass, Estepp said,

“Yes, Majeski broke the black and white rule and according to this post from reporter Bob Pockrass, FOX Sports, he did not tell NASCAR why he was skipping media day. This Report suggests that if NASCAR knew he was voting, they might have worked with him to figure something out. That's true, that is on Ty Majeski.”(10:00)

During an interview, Majeski said that he and his team owners, Duke, Rhonda, and Allison Thorson, were all on the same page, pointing out that it was his duty as an American citizen to vote. However, had NASCAR known, perhaps it could have come up with alternative timings or even arranged a virtual solution to the problem.

“I feel like both sides could have been more transparent. Majeski could have explained where he was going (and) NASCAR could have asked,” Estepp added. (10:40)

Majeski’s initial appeal to rescind the fine was recently rejected by a three-member National Motorsports Appeals Panel. The team has not stated yet if they are willing to make a final appeal.

Ty Majeski shares relaxed mindset following career-first achievement

After competing part-time for four whole years, Ty Majeski landed a full-time deal with ThorSport Racing in 2024. In his very first season with the Ohio-based outfit, Majeski bagged the ultimate honor, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship.

Needless to say, that is an incredible accomplishment for the 30-year-old athlete. Following a tedious season of racing, Majeski is enjoying the offseason with his family and friends. When asked how he was feeling about his win, Majeski said,

“Sometimes you just don't sit and think about what you've been able to accomplish and how you've gotten here so just been a really relaxing couple weeks. Just trying to spend some time at home...it's been obviously a busy season, and I knew it was going to get pretty intense here the next few weeks up until Christmas.”
“So just trying to take it all in, spend some time with family, and have some get-togethers back at home celebrating the Championship,” Ty Majeski told the reporter. (0:19)

Majeski closed the reason with six poles, three wins, 10 top-5s, and 14 top-10s. He will hit the tracks again on February 14. The 100-lap race, known as Fresh From Florida 250, is scheduled to be held at Daytona International Speedway from 7:30 pm ET onwards. Fans can watch the race live on FS1 or listen to radio updates on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
