Shortly after the news of Corey LaJoie's departure from Spire Motorsports surfaced, Kyle Busch became the hot prospect to join the team. However, according to NASCAR insider Bob Pockrass, the Richard Childress Racing driver, who also drives for Spire in the Truck Series, is not expected to make a move until the next season wraps up.

LaJoie is observing his fourth year with the Mooresville-based outfit but has officiated his exit from the team and won't tame the #7 Chevy next year. The North Carolina native has collected four top-5s and six top-10s from 129 stints so far with Spire, with a best finish of fourth place at the Daytona International Speedway (2024), Atlanta Motor Speedway (2023), and Talladega Superspeedway (2023).

Upon the revelation of Corey LaJoie's exit, notions of Kyle Busch getting under the watch of the 2014 Cup Series title-winning crew chief Rodney Childers from next year onwards gained traction. Moreover, considering that the Nevada native is cherishing his successful Truck Series season at Spire with two wins and a runner-up finish from five races while struggling to perform in RCR's Cup car, the speculations maintained a strong foothold.

Nonetheless, replying to an enthusiast, Bob Pockrass said Busch is still under a contract with the #8 team for next year at the least and thus, is highly unlikely to part ways prematurely.

"No. I don’t expect Kyle Busch to be in a Cup car at Spire next year from the people I talked to today. Kyle Busch has a contract with RCR for next year and while never say never, that is where I see him next year," Pockrass wrote on X.

Kyle Busch said "anything's possible" when his contract with RCR concludes

Over a month ago, Joe Gibbs Racing driver Martin Truex Jr. announced the current year as his final full-time Cup Series season, following which many anticipated Kyle Busch's return to JGR's stable. The 39-year-old ran with his former team for 15 years before joining RCR.

However, the chain reaction of problems ensued when M&M/Mars announced their final stint with Kyle Busch and JGR until the end of the 2022 season, leaving the team with insufficient funds to compensate the two-time Cup Series champion for future runs. As a result, Busch inked a multiyear deal with RCR from 2023 onwards.

The #8 Chevy driver's first season with the new garage started on a promising note with his three wins, 10 top-5s, and 17 top-10s. However, he has failed to replicate that performance this year. Not only is Busch suffering from a career-worst winless streak of 43 races but has also succumbed to five DNFs, drastically slimming his playoff odds.

Upon Truex Jr.'s retirement announcement, the RCR driver shed light on whether he could return to JGR or Hendrick Motorsports where he ran from 2004-2007. He didn't restrict himself to his former teams and kept the floor open with his "anything's possible" remark.

"I would say there's anything's possible always you know. Certainly, if I was welcomed I would go back. If Hendrick welcomed me back I would go back. But right now I'm at RCR with my group of guys and in the deal that I have right now in place and so we're trying to work and build this program and make RCR great again," Busch said (via Bob Pockrass on X).

Kyle Busch is yet to give his take on considering joining Spire Motorsports' Cup Series team after his current contract ends.
