Martin Truex Jr. will reportedly return to NASCAR as a part-time driver. Per motorsports journalist Bobby Parsons on X (formerly Twitter), Truex Jr. will attempt to qualify for the 2025 Daytona 500 with Tricon Garage.

Truex Jr. is a professional stock car racing driver who retired from full-time competition after the 2024 season. He last drove in the Cup Series with Joe Gibbs Racing.

Parsons tweeted that Martin Truex Jr. will run the car Tricon Garage plans to debut in the "Great American Race." The journalist also said that IndyCar star Helio Castroneves will be part of the season opener.

"Martin Truex Jr., Cup Series' 2017 champion, will attempt to qualify at Daytona 500 this year also [alongside Helio Castroneves]."

He added:

"The champion will be with Tricon Garage, a NASCAR Truck team who is debuting at Cup Series."

This tweet addresses previous links to the driver's Daytona 500 attempt with other teams. Martin Truex Jr. was expected to run with 23XI Racing. However, the New Jersey native shut down the rumors during the 2024 NASCAR Awards Banquet.

The 2017 NASCAR Cup Series champion was also linked to Trackhouse Racing. However, Parsons said that the Chevrolet-affiliated team would put Helio Castroneves in the Project 91 Chevrolet Camaro.

But as the tweet states, Truex Jr. is partnering with Tricon Garage for his attempt to qualify for Sunday's race. Tricon Garage is a Craftsman Truck Series team competing with Japanese automaker, Toyota.

He added:

“I feel like I've earned the respect of a lot of people around here and that means a lot...that means probably more than everything, more than wins,” he added.
