Thirty races have taken place in the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season. Ross Chastain clinched his first win of the season after winning the Hollywood Casino 400 at the Kansas Speedway on Sunday, September 29.
In a thrilling Kansas race, Chastain led the final 21 laps and then held off William Byron in the closing laps to take the checkered flag.
With the win, Chastain, who is not in the playoffs, gained 40 points and moved to 17th in the NASCAR Cup Series playoff points table with 806 points.
After a runner-up finish at Kansas, William Byron gained 52 points and moved into top position in the NASCAR Cup Series points table with 3074 points. He has a six-point lead over Ryan Blaney.
Christopher Bell, who started from pole, failed to use the advantage and finished seventh. He gained 36 points and is third in the playoff points table, 24 points above the cutline for Round of 8.
The defending NASCAR Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney finished fourth in the Hollywood Casino 400. He gained 49 points and is second in the playoffs points table with 3068 points.
Kyle Larson finished P26 and gained 11 points. He moved to fourth place in the points table with 3058 points.
