Two-time NASCAR Cup champion Kyle Busch recently fueled the rumor mill by indicating that he would leave his doors open for a reunion with Joe Gibbs Racing or Hendrick Motorsports, amidst his struggles at Richard Childress Racing.

Martin Truex Jr. recently announced his plans to retire at the end of the season, opening up a coveted seat at JGR. Busch was asked if he would consider returning to his former team, to which the #8 Chevy driver replied (to Bob Pockrass at Iowa Speedway):

"I would say anything’s possible always. Certainly, if I was welcomed I would go back. If Hendrick welcomed me back I would go back but right now I’m at RCR with my group of guys and the deal that I have right now in place. We’re trying to work and build this program and make RCR great again."

Fox Sports reporter Bob Pockrass dissected Kyle Busch's comments. Pockrass believes that the two-time Cup champion returning to HMS or JGR is highly unlikely. Pockrass suggested that Busch's relationship with JGR has soured, while HMS has a stable driver lineup.

Pockrass also mentioned that there is a remote possibility of Busch joining RFK Racing. An excerpt from his recent blog read (via Fox Sports):

"Don't count on him ever returning to Joe Gibbs Racing or Hendrick Motorsports, and of those two very, very unlikely scenarios, rank a return to Hendrick above a return to JGR. And if talking remote possibilities, don't rule out Busch going to another former rival like RFK Racing as much as any other team."

Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski have been rivals for much of the previous decade. There is a critical missing piece in their union at RFK Racing as the team has to buy a third charter. Chris Buescher is on a multi-year contract, and Keselowski most likely will not vacate his seat for Busch.

Kevin Harvick criticizes Kyle Busch's recent comments

Former NASCAR champion Kevin Harvick critiqued Kyle Busch's comments about keeping his options open while being under contract with Richard Childress Racing.

Harvick suggested that such comments would be a "kick in the teeth" for the team members and opened a Pandora's box. He said on the Happy Hour podcast:

"I don't know why you would say that if you were happy and wanting to work through the scenario that you had. It seems to me that he's just throwing it out there just to see what the options are on the table." [1:08]

Kevin Harvick was baffled by the veteran driver's comments and suggested that it doesn't help in improving the situation at RCR.
