Spire Motorsports and Corey LaJoie are set to part ways at the end of the 2024 season. Now, rumors are linking the North Carolina-based racer to joining Rick Ware Racing for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season.

With the announcement of Stewart-Haas Racing shutting shop at the end of this year, the NASCAR driver market became volatile. Jeff Dickerson-owned Spire Motorsports eventually announced the split between the team and LaJoie. Further impacting the decision was likely the arrival of Rodney Childers as the crew chief for the #7 team.

While there are no teams left in the top national series that can offer a drive to the 33-year-old driver, there are rumors of LaJoie joining the RWR as a replacement for Justin Haley. Coincidently, the current Rick Ware Racing driver has also been linked to joining the #7 Spire team, making it a possible ride-swap between two racers.

Ahead of the official announcement, Corey LaJoie spoke about the challenges he faced with The Athletic, addressing the rumors in a cryptic manner.

“My phone’s going and people are interested in making calls. But every good door in my life that’s been opened hasn’t been opened by myself. I wasn’t the one ripping those doors open, they were open and I had to walk through those when the time was right. So I have faith and I have confidence that the next door, whether it’s on Sundays (Cup Series) or not, is going to open,” he said.

After three years with Spire Motorsports, the son of the former Xfinity Series champion Randy Lajoie will be looking to make a mark in the upcoming Cup Series season with RWR.

"My phone's gonna keep ringing when people want me to drive their car" - Corey LaJoie confident about finding a new seat in NASCAR in 2025

Corey LaJoie will be exiting Spire Motorsports at the end of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season. The 33-year-old racer, however, feels confident about securing a place in one of the three national series.

LaJoie has three back-to-back disappointing Cup Series seasons with Spire Motorsports. The North Carolina-based driver managed to secure just four Top 10s and three Top 5 finishes in 2022 and 2023 combined. The situation has been the same in the 2024 season, with LaJoie getting two Top 10s and one Top 5 in 27 races.

Although the #7 racer has not secured a seat in either Cup, Xfinity, or Truck Series, he feels confident about his chances after the ninth-place finish at Darlington Raceway. LaJoie spoke about the same with senior NASCAR journalist Stephen Stumpf after the Cook Out Southern 500 race.

"There's a lot of people chirping, but nonetheless, I'm gonna get paid for that place tonight and my phone's gonna keep ringing when people want me to drive their car," he commented.

As of now, LaJoie is linked to Rick Ware Racing for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season as a replacement for Justin Haley.
