Every year ahead of Halloween, the Richard Childress Racing crew members show up at the race shop wearing hilarious costumes and choreograph unique practice sessions. They have impersonated many characters from famous horror movies and cartoon shows. Chucky, The Flintstones, SpongeBob SquarePants, The Minions, Super Mario; the team seems to have it all in their Halloween wardrobe.
Reflecting on the same, NASCAR on NBC posted the Chevy team’s Halloween-inspired outfits from 2018 to 2023 on their official X (formerly known as Twitter) handle. The caption read:
“Pit crews need practice, even on Halloween. Richard Childress Racing has done them year after year in style.”
Founded in 1969, Richard Childress Racing is one of the leading organizations in NASCAR. With a rich heritage of fielding legendary drivers like Ricky Rudd and Dale Earnhardt Sr., the team stands at 117 NASCAR Cup Series wins. Their array of accolades includes multiple wins in the crown jewel Daytona 500 (1998, 2007, and 2018).
Richard Childress Racing was the first team to win championships across all three national touring series, i.e., NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and NASCAR Truck Series. Besides that, the team owns 16 championships, six of which are at the Cup level.
Richard Childress Racing is the home to two-time Cup Series champion Kyle Busch (driving the No. 8 car) and 2018 Daytona 500 winner Austin Hill (driving the No. 3 car). Both drivers are full-time contenders in the Cup Series.
On the Xfinity side of things, RCR fields Jesse Love and Austin Hill, driving the No. 2 and the No. 21 machines, respectively.
Richard Childress Racing signs contract extension for Xfinity Series driver Jesse Love
Richard Childress Racing recently signed a contract with longtime partner Whelen Engineering. Whelen will serve as the key sponsor for the Chevrolet driven by Jesse Love in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
“We're thrilled to extend our partnership with Richard Childress Racing and Jesse Love in 2025,” said Peter Tiezzi, General Manager of Motors, Whelen Engineering. “It's been an honor to watch Jesse grow as a driver and ambassador for Whelen and RCR in his rookie season. Our shared commitment to excellence and community impact makes this partnership truly special, and we can't wait to see what we achieve together next year!"
Love bagged the 2023 ARCA Menards Series Championship for Venturini Motorsports and landed a full-time deal with Richard Childress Racing in 2024. Right in his debut season, the Californian impressed with a win, five poles, seven top-fives, and 17 top-10s.
“Jesse has been an outstanding representative for Whelen in his rookie season," president of Richard Childress Racing Torrey Galida commented (via Newsweek). "Together, he delivered Whelen their first victory in the Xfinity Series. We are confident that there is much more success on the horizon for Jesse and Whelen.”
In his most recent race at Homestead-Miami Speedway on October 26, Jesse Love finished fourth behind former Stewart-Haas Racing driver, Aric Almirola.
Love will start his engine next at the Xfinity Series playoff race at Martinsville Speedway on November 2.
