Spire Motorsports has announced that Justin Haley will replace Corey LaJoie as the driver of the No. 7 car for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season.
Haley is currently in his first season with Rick Ware Racing (RWR). The 25-year-old has earned two top-10 and 11 top-20 finishes so far. Prior to joining RWR, he won the 2019 Daytona summer race with Spire Motorsports.
Spire had earlier announced that Corey LaJoie would leave the team after the current season. On September 20, both Spire Motorsports and RWR confirmed a driver swap. LaJoie will move to RWR, and Haley will join Spire Motorsports next weekend at Kansas Speedway.
Haley will start driving the No. 7 car at the Hollywood Casino 400, officially beginning his long-term contract with Spire Motorsports. LaJoie, meanwhile, will transition to the No. 51 car at Rick Ware Racing.
Jeff Dickerson, co-owner of Spire Motorsports, expressed excitement about having Haley join the team again.
"We’ve both grown since that day, as Justin has proven his talent in the Cup garage and he comes back to an organization that is very different from the one he left a few years ago. Getting back together now, rather than waiting until 2025, gives us an excellent opportunity to build a baseline and be a step ahead when we get to Daytona next February,” Dickerson said.
Haley will team up with Rodney Childers, who signed a multiyear deal with Spire in July.
"He brings a lot to the table" - Justin Haley on working with Rodney Childers
Justin Haley began his racing career at the age of nine, competing in Quarter Midgets. He won the KQMC and Indiana State Series titles in both 2009 and 2010.
The 25-year-old earned a surprising win at the Daytona Coke Zero Sugar 400 in 2019 when a lightning storm ended the race early. He won his first Xfinity race the following year and also became the 32nd driver to win in all three of NASCAR’s main racing series.
The Indiana native talked about working with Rodney Childers, one of the top crew chiefs in NASCAR.
"Having someone like Rodney behind you and supporting you on the pit box is one of the biggest motivations you can have as a driver and a team. I’m really looking forward to working with Rodney. He brings a lot to the table, especially for a younger driver like me. He had lots of success with Kevin (Harvick) for several years, and I feel like we have similar aspects to each other," Haley said.
