Two NASCAR personalities had a heated exchange on X (formerly Twitter) over a Los Angeles wildfire post. NASCAR spotter Joel Edmonds downplayed Samuel Stubbs's work as a motorsports writer, saying 'not everyone is a journalist.'
Edmonds is a veteran spotter who worked with drivers like Aric Almirola, Greg Biffle, and Cole Custer. He also teamed up with Jeff Gordon and had pit crew duties in the 90s.
Recently, Joel Edmonds shared his thoughts on how the wildfire in LA possibly started, which caught Samuel Stubbs' attention.
"Zero possibility that these fires were not set," Edmonds wrote on X.
Stubbs replied:
"Not everything is a conspiracy."
The NASCAR spotter then responded with a five-word tirade against the journalist.
"Not everyone is a journalist."
The social media exchange ended with a lengthy post from Stubbs, saying:
"Nor is everyone a detective. Not ruling [out] anything, but acting like everything that happens has hidden meaning behind it takes focus off of the problem at hand and what victims are going through. We don't know what happened, no reason for us to spread info that's not reliable."
While wildfire isn't new to the state of California, the Los Angeles Fire Department's arson investigation team is still investigating the root cause of the catastrophe.
Reports say about five people died in the fast-moving wildfire and counting. The fire has destroyed more than 1,000 structures and forced more than 130,000 residents to evacuate.
As of this writing, the catastrophe is projected to be one of the costliest in US history.
NASCAR, meanwhile, will only host one race in California at Sonoma Raceway in July. The league dropped the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Clash from the 2025 schedule, though reports suggest a street race in San Diego is being considered.
Ryan Blaney's wife Gianna showed support for wildfire victims
Ryan Blaney's now-wife, Gianna Tulio, shared a heartwarming post for California wildfire victims. She sent her love and prayers in an Instagram story before resharing a Los Angeles Times post on how to help the affected LA residents.
Tulio wrote:
"Sending all my love and prayers to those in LA."
Below is the LA Times post-Tulio reshared for donating to affected residents and aiding firefighters.
Ryan Blaney and Gianna Tulio got married last December in a winter-themed wedding in Aspen, Colorado. The two met in Las Vegas in 2018 before publicizing their romantic relationship two years later.
Tulio witnessed Blaney win his first NASCAR Cup Series championship in 2023. The Team Penske driver proposed to his then-longtime girlfriend later in the year.
Ryan Blaney will return to the No. 12 Ford Mustang for the Daytona 500 season opener on February 16. He will enter the season following a runner-up finish last year behind Team Penske teammate Joey Logano who won his third title.
The newlywed couple will hold their honeymoon around Easter in April, which would fall between the Bristol Motor Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway races.
