Hailie Deegan recently shared a seemingly disappointing experience she had at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. She went on to label it the "worst airport."
Deegan shared her travel woes on her Snapchat stories. In one story, she vented about an airport delay, and in a follow-up, she dubbed Charlotte Douglas International the "worst airport."
"Worst airport known to man"
She uploaded another story after this, writing:
"4hrs later we're on the plane. Rental car place where we land just closed and it's a small airport 🙃. This is gonna be a long night."
She seemingly faced a major delay in catching her flight, which might have caused her further problems. While the actual reason for this delay is unknown, it might have been because of the global outage that Microsoft Windows users faced. The Operating System crashed on many computers, bringing work to a standstill.
Hailie Deegan kicked off her full-time NASCAR Xfinity Series season this year with AM Racing. However, her performance in Xfinity did not meet the team's expectations. As such, the team parted ways with her a few days ago. Joey Logano replaced her at the Chicago Street Circuit and finished P8, the team's best result of the season so far.
Kevin Harvick on Hailie Deegan's Xfinity seat getting axed: "She needed more time in the Truck Series"
Former NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick recently weighed in on the split between Hailie Deegan and AM Racing. Speaking on his namesake podcast, he claimed that the 23-year-old needed more time in the Truck Series. He also criticized the Ford development system and stated that it was a bad idea for her to leave the Toyota development system.
"The big mistake here was getting out of the Toyota development system. I think Ford has the worst development program as far as their drivers go," he said (at 0:43). "I think Toyota has the best, and I think Chevy's somewhere in the middle. Getting out of that Toyota development program with all the resources, and they're willing to give time. I think that she (Hailie Deegan) needed more time in the Truck Series, getting that guidance and mentorship that she needed in order to develop into what she needed to be a NASCAR race-car driver."
Hailie Deegan joined the Toyota program in 2017 but left in 2019 to join Ford. Currently, there is a cloud of uncertainty over her future in the series.
