Retired NASCAR champion Kevin Harvick shared a story that detailed his daughter Piper's experience sharing the go-kart track with current NASCAR star Kyle Larson's daughter, Audrey. The 2014 champion said it was his seven-year-old daughter's "best day" on the track.
In the most recent episode of Harvick's "Happy Hour" podcast, the 60-time Cup Series race winner recalled Audrey getting into an incident on the go-kart track last Thursday and wanting Piper to join her on the track.
"She was asking when Piper could come ride because she needed somebody to ride with," Harvick said. "So, Larson texted me and I asked Piper. I showed her the text and I said, 'Do you want to go ride?' She was like, 'Heck yeah, let's do it.'"
The newest NASCAR on FOX broadcaster said he and his daughter hadn't been to a go-kart track since July due to the latter wanting only to ride at cooler temperatures in the fall.
Harvick said Piper did laps on the go-kart track the Friday ahead of NASCAR's playoff race at Atlanta and said it was her best day at the track because she got to help Audrey learn how to maneuver around the track.
"Best day she's ever had," Harvick said. "The reason that it was that way is because she could be the teacher. She wanted to teach Audrey how to go around the racetrack, and so she took instruction very well in front of her."
The former driver of the No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford said his daughter ran faster than she ever has at a go-kart track, making it a fun day for everyone involved.
"Looked like she knew what she was doing," Harvick said. "Ran every session. We had no issues, no complaining, and had a great time."
Kevin Harvick and Kyle Larson are both a father of two
The two drivers, who have a combined 87 NASCAR Cup Series wins, are both dads of two. Kevin Harvick and his wife, DeLana (m. 2001), welcomed their first child, Keelan, on July 8, 2012. On December 28, 2017, the Harvick family had their second child, Piper.
Kyle Larson and his wife, Katelyn (m. 2018), had their first child together, Owen, on December 22, 2014. The couple welcomed their second child, Audrey, in 2018.
Harvick retired at the end of the 2023 season after 23 full-time seasons in the Cup Series. Along with his "Happy Hour" podcast, he stands alongside Mike Joy and Clint Bowyer in the NASCAR on FOX booth.
Amid his 11th full-time Cup season, Larson has four wins in the 2024 campaign and currently sits 10th in the playoff standings following last Sunday's playoff opener at Atlanta, where he finished 37th.
