Following a chaotic weekend in Chicago, NASCAR action will now head towards Pocono Raceway for the much-anticipated Great American Getaway 400 presented by VISITPA. Scheduled for 2:30 p.m., this NASCAR Cup Series race will span 160 laps, covering 400 miles on one of the most unique tracks in the series. Popularly known as "The Tricky Triangle," Pocono Raceway is located in the Pocono Mountains in Long Pond, Pennsylvania.

With a capacity of over 76,000, Pocono Raceway is a favorite among NASCAR fans. Its 4.203-mile length features three distinct turns, each with different banking angles of 14°, 8°, and 6°, making it a challenging venue for drivers and spectators alike.

Notably, Pocono is one of the few tracks in the NASCAR circuit not owned by NASCAR or Speedway Motorsports. Instead, it is managed by Mattco Inc., a family-owned company started by Rose and Joseph Mattioli, with CEO Nick Igdalsky and President Ben May at the helm.

As the race approaches, we take a look through five drivers to watch out for in the upcoming The Great American Getaway 400 race at Pocono Raceway.

1. Denny Hamlin

Denny Hamlin is undeniably the master of Pocono Raceway, with seven Cup wins at this track, making it his best on the circuit. Hamlin is the defending champion of this race, clinching victories in 2006 (twice), 2009, 2010, 2019, 2020, and 2023.

This season, Hamlin's excellent form saw him secure three wins and a spot in the playoffs. Looking to recapture the momentum from last year, Hamlin is certainly one of the top contenders for the win at Pocono.

2. Alex Bowman

Last weekend at Chicago saw Hendrick Motorsports' Alex Bowman end a more-than-two-year winless streak. Driving his No. 48 Chevy to victory, the triumph marked a significant comeback for Bowman, who faced numerous hardships, including struggles with pace and major injuries.

Aiming to build on his success from last weekend, Bowman will be one of the favorites for Pocono.

3. Kyle Busch

Kyle Busch has had a challenging season courtesy of multiple DNFs, bad luck, crashes, and bumps. The two-time Cup Champion currently finds himself behind the playoff cutline as he enters the race at Pocono.

Busch desperately needs a win to boost his chances of making the playoffs and will be highly motivated to overcome his recent blips to secure a victory at The Tricky Triangle. He has four wins at the race track.

4. William Byron

William Byron started the season on a high note, winning the Daytona 500 and two additional races, securing his spot in the playoffs early on. However, the #24 has experienced a significant slump in form lately and needs to regain momentum with playoffs approaching. Pocono will offer a crucial opportunity for Byron to bounce back and prove that his early-season success was no fluke.

5. Kyle Larson

Kyle Larson is another top driver who has struggled at Pocono Raceway. Despite his immense talent and past successes, Larson has never won a Cup race at The Tricky Triangle. The former NASCAR Cup Series champion would aim to find a way to secure a victory to boost his confidence heading into the playoffs.
