The first round of the 2024 NASCAR Truck Series playoff season came to an end with the conclusion of Friday’s Kubota Tractor 200 at Kansas Speedway, where Corey Heim secured his sixth win of the season.
The result of the final race of the Round of 10 set the eight drivers in the playoff grid who will compete against each other for the prestigious NASCAR Truck Series championship.
The Round of 10 was filled with excitement and drama. Layne Riggs dominated the first two playoff races with back-to-back wins at the Milwaukee Mile Speedway and Bristol Motor Speedway.
With no new winner from below the cut-off line at Kansas Speedway, the last two spots were taken by Taylor Gray and Grant Enfinger after finishing 18th and ninth, respectively, in the elimination race.
Ben Rhodes and Daniel Dye are the two playoff-eligible drivers who did not make the Round of 8.
Rhodes finished 22nd after running out of fuel. He fell 25 points short of Enfinger for the final spot in the next round of playoffs.
Expressing his emotions after being knocked out of the playoffs, Rhodes said (via NASCAR.com):
“It was definitely a little bit stressful, definitely too close for comfort there. This is a round we want to forget. We snuck through here, and now we’re looking forward to going to Talladega next week.”
