After his first win of the 2024 NASCAR season at Pocono, Cole Custer is ready to reveal his future plans at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Currently, he's rumored to be the frontrunner to get a ride with the Haas Factory Team in the Cup Series next year.

The news came after Stewart-Haas Racing's announcement that it will wind down operations after the 2024 season. While the drivers have been looking for new teams to have a ride in 2025, rumors have been going about Cole Custer taking the wheel of the retained Cup car in 2025. However, the Haas Factory team will also manage two Xfinity charters. As of now, the details of Cole Custer’s exact plans remain up in the air.

According to Joseph Srigley, the managing editor of Toby Christie's website, there's a new update. He shared (via his X handle):

"#NASCAR: Defending NASCAR Xfinity Series champion @ColeCuster will announce his 2025 NASCAR plans on Saturday, July 20th at 11:00 am ET at @IMS."

Cole Custer, who has a Cup Series win and was named the 2020 Rookie of the Year, holds the record as the youngest Truck Series winner at just 16 years old.

Cole Custer is confident about the Indianapolis Motor Speedway race

Having previously raced on the Indianapolis Oval, the Stewart-Haas Racing driver might have an edge. Yet, Custer cautiously noted that while experience is beneficial, the introduction of a superspeedway package instead of an intermediate setup is likely to shake things up for his team. However, despite these changes, Cole Custer stayed optimistic and said [via Speedway Digest]:

"The time I've had on this track not only in the Xfinity Series but also the Cup Series should help me. I have previous knowledge that I can use while we prepare. We also have an entire practice session on Friday, which will help us get our No. 00 Haas Automation Ford Mustang Dark Horse better for the race."
"On top of all that, we're riding a wave of momentum from the past few races that should help the team's confidence heading into the weekend. I'm excited to get back on the oval at Indianapolis and hopefully contend for the win," he added.

Last year Custer won three races, had 14 top-5 finishes, 21 top-10s, and won the season championship. In defending his title this year, he's already tallied a win, eight top-5s, and 15 top-10s in the first 19 races, including seven weeks at the top of the points standings.

After a three-season stint in the Cup Series that yielded only a single win, two top-5 finishes, and 12 top-10s, Custer returned to the Xfinity Series last year with much better performances.

It remains to be seen whether he will make another move to the Cup series or continue polishing his skills in the Xfinity Series for now.
