The 26-race NASCAR Xfinity Series regular season ended with the conclusion of Friday’s (September 20) Food City 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway, where Cole Custer secured his second win of the season and Xfinity Series regular season championship.
The result of the final race of the regular season sets the postseason playoff grid for who will fight against each other for the prestigious 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship.
Ten of the 12 playoff positions were already decided. With no new winner from below the cut-off line at Bristol Motor Speedway, the last two spots were snatched by Sammy Smith and Parker Kligerman after finishing 15th and 16th, respectively.
Brandon Jones, Anthony Alfredo, and Ryan Sieg were in contention to secure the final playoff spot but were knocked out of the playoff races.
The potential Xfinity drivers who missed the playoffs this season are Brennan Poole, Josh Williams, Leland Honeyman, Parker Retzlaff, Jeremy Clements, and Jeb Burton.
NASCAR Xfinity Series playoff grid: Drivers who made it to the Round of 12
With 12 out of 38 Xfinity Series drivers advanced to the battle for the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship, JR Motorsports driver Justin Allgaier, who had a strong season so far with two wins, grabbed the top spot to begin the Round of 12.
The 2024 Xfinity Series playoffs consist of two rounds of three races each before the Championship 4 race at Phoenix Raceway on November 9. The top four drivers will compete in the title-deciding race.
Sheldon Creed, AJ Allmendinger, Sammy Smith, and Parker Kligerman enter the playoff as the four drivers below the cut-off line for the next round.
