NASCAR driver Chase Elliott recently acquired a new sponsorship deal with Amazon Prime, owned by one of the world's richest men Jeff Bezos. The partnership comes after NASCAR's new seven-year media rights deal, which included a few races to be exclusively broadcast on Amazon Prime Video. Recently, NASCAR YouTuber Eric Estepp explored the details of the sensational deal.
Former Cup Series champion Elliott drives the #9 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, competing full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series. Over his career, Elliott has achieved 28 victories across NASCAR's top divisions, including 19 in the premier Cup Series, solidifying his status as one of the sport's leading talents.
Following the announcement of Amazon Prime, which is worth $2 trillion (as per Forbes in July 2024) as Elliott's sponsor starting from the 2025 season, NASCAR influencer Eric Estepp shared his thoughts in a recent video on his YouTube channel. After talking at length about Corey Day's signing with HMS, Estepp said:
"While we're on the topic of Hendrick Motorsports, yesterday they, unveiled a brand new primary sponsor for Chase Elliott. Amazon Prime, the online retail behemoth, the streaming giant. They will be the primary sponsor for Chase Elliott for select races in 2025. This is a multi-year deal meant to promote NASCAR's introduction to the streaming world." [4:20]
Estepp then shed light on the specifics of Amazon's role in the new $7.7 billion media deal.
"NASCAR chased the most money possible when negotiating this new TV contract. As a result, there are four major companies with rights to broadcast Nascar Cup Series races this year ... Five races exclusively streaming on Amazon Prime. I would not be surprised if those races at first struggled to hit the two to three million viewership mark that most Cup events average but I could be wrong. Amazon's sheer numbers are mindboggling. There are an estimated 180 million Americans subscribed to Amazon Prime. By contrast only 68 million Americans still subscribe to cable," he added. [5:17 onwards]
Chase Elliott made his way to the 2024 playoffs, however, his title chase came to an end after the penultimate elimination round of the postseason. However, in 36 races, Elliott locked in consistent performances by securing 19 top-ten and 11 top-five finishes, with an average finish of 11.7 in the 2024 season.
NASCAR influencer gives her verdict on Chase Elliott’s newest association
Chase Elliot's new sponsorship has taken the NASCAR fraternity by storm. The deal states that Elliott will pilot the #9 Amazon Prime Chevy three times each year starting from this season until the end of the 2027 campaign. Besides Estepp, NASCAR influencer Taylor Kitchen shared her thoughts on the former champion's newest sponsor deal.
“Chase Elliott gains a big partner with Amazon's Prime Video. Smart to have NASCAR's Most Popular Driver represent the sports newest streaming partner. I am HOPING this means more promotion of Elliott in media as Prime hopes to bring in new eyes to their platform,” Kitchen wrote on X.
The first Cup race where fans can witness his new blue and white color scheme will be the Jack Link's 500 at Talladega Superspeedway on April 27. The event will be exclusively broadcast on FOX, MRN, and SiriusXM's NASCAR channel at 3:00 PM ET.
