“Never liked the guy”: NASCAR YouTuber gives honest opinion on Tony Stewart being his ‘least favorite’ driver

Former NASCAR driver and team owner of Stewart-Haas Racing, Tony Stewart is regarded as one of the most successful and versatile drivers in motorsports history. Stewart was a favorite of many during his racing days, but NASCAR YouTuber Eric Estepp didn’t like him during his childhood. Estepp revealed his least favorite NASCAR driver.

In an YouTube video, Eric Estepp, who makes videos on NASCAR, named Tony Stewart as his least favorite NASCAR driver because of his hot-tempered nature and didn’t hold back on his thoughts about the former three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion. However, Estepp admitted Stewart’s exceptional skill behind the wheel and versatility across different forms of motorsport.

In a YouTube video answering fans questions, one of them was about his least favorite driver. Estepp said:

“It was Tony Stewart, circa 2006. Never liked the guy. Tremendous talent. I always, and still do, very much respect what Tony Stewart is capable of on the racetrack, behind the wheel of pretty much anything that moves. But as a kid, I did not like his personality. Too hot-headed for my tastes. Was not a Tony Stewart fan for many years there.” [4:46]

In the following question, NASCAR YouTube sensation named NASCAR legends Matt Kenseth, Kyle Petty and Kenny Wallace as his favorite drivers of whom he has taken an interview.

“I got to interview Matt Kenseth on the show in 2020. That's still one of my top career highlights. I did a short segment last year with Kyle Petty that I really enjoyed… And Kenny Wallace is another one. He was very kind to invite me on his YouTube show last year. Really nice guy. Enjoyed that chat.”

Tony Stewart’s achievements and legacy in NASCAR

Liking and disliking a driver is a personal choice, but Stewart is arguably one of the greatest NASCAR drivers of all time. In his illustrious career, he amassed 49 wins and 308 top-10 finishes, including wins in the Brickyard 400. He holds four Cup Series titles, two as a driver (2002, 2005), one as owner/driver (2011) and one as an owner in 2014.

The 53-year-old Columbus, Indiana, native also won the IndyCar Series championship in 1997, which showed his versatility as a driver.

Beyond his achievements on the track, Stewart’s legacy extends to team ownership, where he co-founded Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR). Under his leadership, SHR has become a powerhouse, securing multiple championships, including Harvick’s 2014 title. Stewart currently competes in NHRA.
