Veteran NASCAR Cup Series driver Denny Hamlin has claimed the third pole position for the 2024 season at Nashville Superspeedway. The Virginia-based driver has also opened up about his relationship with Chase Briscoe, who joins Hamlin in Joe Gibbs Racing this week.

Hamlin began his NASCAR career in 2005. Since then, he has been the top contender for the championship six times (2006, 2010, 2014, 2019, 2020, and 2021). Throughout his illustrious career, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver has amassed 54 wins, 42 poles, and 348 top-10 finishes. After 20 years in the motorsport, the three-time Daytona 500 winner has announced his retirement at the end of the 2024 season.

During a mandatory media interaction after the qualifying session for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Ally 400 race at Nashville Superspeedway, Denny Hamlin opened up about his relationship with his new teammate, Chase Briscoe.

"Denny, you gain new teammate this week in Chase Brisco. What's your relationship like with him now and how will it change over the next six months?" Questioned Peter from TSA sports (6:55 onwards).

Hamlin explained that he is not close to Briscoe:

"I've never really had a, you know, close relationship with Chase (Briscoe). Uh, I never, you know, really talked to him much."

However, the #11 driver added that he would be looking forward to some interaction later. He said that Briscoe has some unique skill sets that suit certain tracks.

"I think that there's he's a person that certainly I'll be able to learn off of. Um, I think he's got some special skill sets at certain racetracks that intrigue me," Hamlin said.

Even though Hamlin is currently in his last season, he believes that he can learn from the #9 driver once he is part of the team.

"Certainly, I'll be able to you know use that information to make myself better which is what you want (as teammates)," Hamlin said.

As the 2024 season edges toward the Playoffs, Hamlin would look to improve his chances of winning the championship in his last season as a full-time Cup Series driver.

Veteran NASCAR Cup Series driver Denny Hamlin announced his retirement at the end of the 2024 season. He began his year on a positive note by grabbing both pole position and victory at the Busch Light Clash at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

While he managed to finish third in the Duel 2 at DAYTONA, Hamlin was unable to keep up the momentum in the next two races at Daytona International Speedway (19th position) and Atlanta Motor Speedway (23rd position). Since then, the #11 racer seemed to have put his best foot forward.

Hamlin won at Bristol Motor Speedway, Richmond Raceway, and Dover Motor Speedway, and managed six top-10 finishes at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Kansas Speedway, Darlington Raceway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, World Wide Technology Raceway, and the All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway.

Amassing 580 points in the season so far, Hamlin is currently in third position in the driver's standing, behind Kyle Larson (620 points) and Chase Elliott (620 points).
