Freddie Kraft, the spotter for Cup Series driver Bubba Wallace, took to social media on Tuesday to share a farewell message to his podcast colleague, Brett Griffin. Outside of being at the racetrack, the two shared the airwaves on the Door Bumper Clear podcast via Dirty Mo Media.
Griffin, a former spotter for now-retired Cup Series drivers Clint Bowyer and Jeff Burton, penned a post on X sharing the latest episode of his podcast. However, he made it clear in the post that this was his final appearance on the show as he expressed his gratitude for all of those who listened over the years.
"Thank you, listeners," Griffin wrote. "I’ve had a blast on this journey and my goal was simple - share the knowledge and experiences I’ve had during my career. Let’s laugh and learn as we go and we did just that. Ep 355 was my last. ❤️"
Kraft then reposted his now-former podcast colleague's post to offer a goodbye message. The spotter of the 23XI Racing driver hinted that the podcast might not continue with Griffin's departure, but if it does, Kraft said it won't be the same without him.
"Well I’m damn sure gonna miss fighting, and laughing my a** off with one of my best friends every Monday morning," Kraft wrote. "If DBC continues, it’ll certainly never be the same without Brett. Thanks for bringing me along for the ride Playa. Holla."
Bubba Wallace had an off year on the racetrack as the two-time Cup Series winner failed to make the 16-driver playoff field this season. He made his first appearance in the playoffs last year.
This year, the Alabama native recorded six top-fives and finished 18th in the final points standings. The 31-year-old is on a two-year winless drought as his last victory to date came at the Kansas Speedway in October 2022.
Bubba Wallace's crew chief, spotter were suspended for last Sunday's race at Phoenix for Martinsville controversy
Bubba Wallace closed out the 2024 season without a few of his key figures. Crew chief Bootie Barker and spotter Freddie Kraft were suspended for Sunday's season finale at the Phoenix Raceway for race manipulation at the end of the Martinsville race the week prior.
Wallace was at the forefront of controversy on the final lap of the 500-lap event when he appeared to slow down and allowed fellow Toyota driver Christopher Bell to pass him. This gave Bell the position he needed to point his way into the Championship 4.
However, after Bell rode the wall coming to the checkered flag, he was given a safety violation penalty and fell out of the Championship 4, which allowed William Byron in.
Wallace's teammate, Tyler Reddick, was one of the four championship drivers on Sunday but failed to outrun any of them as he finished fourth among the title contenders.
