Denny Hamlin recently opened up on his thoughts regarding the current charter negotiations situation. As per a recent report by ESPN, NASCAR has communicated with teams that they cannot offer permanent charters, and can only support the teams as long as they're being supported.

This was a subject that Denny Hamlin took on during the latest episode of Actions Detrimental. Hamlin expressed his disappointment with the way the negotiations are shaping up with NASCAR and described why the demands from the teams are justified.

"It was very interesting because we had one-on-one meetings with NASCAR executives and we felt like those meetings went well and we thought we were heard. But when you get a document that doesn't cover any of the things we talked about, and actually, not only don't cover those things, but actually starts clawing back more on their side from us, it's certainly not good feeling for sure. It's frustrating," Hamlin said. [53:20]

He emphasized his comment on the recent ESPN report where he wrote, "Permanent charters don't cost anything." Hamlin claimed the only thing making charters permanent would cost is control.

The 23XI Racing co-owner explained that every agreement gets renegotiated after a new TV contract. Hamlin claimed that it's not like the teams are saying they need a certain amount of money "for the eternity."

What the teams want, as per Denny Hamlin, is that as long as they are a part of the sport, they need a certain amount of money.

Denny Hamlin explains why the teams want "a permanent seat at the table" with NASCAR

Further speaking on this subject, Denny Hamlin claimed that all teams want is fair treatment and return for everything they've put into the sport.

"All we’re saying is that Rick Hendrick, Roger Penske [and] Joe Gibbs have spent decades building this sport and you cannot deny that they built the sport with their drivers, with their teams and everything, that they deserve the blue sky, which is they have an asset that they can pass down to their kids and their grandkids, especially at a family organization like Joe Gibbs Racing," Hamlin said. He claimed that the team owners want to have something they can pass down to their kids as a business and a charter.

Because in a situation where it "all goes crumbling down" like it did with Stewart Haas Racing, they can make something on their investment on which they spent for decades. The #11 driver claimed that SHR, while they spent "hundreds and hundreds of millions" on their organization, they at least made some of that back.

Denny Hamlin claimed that the teams want a "permanent seat at the table" when it comes to racing in the sport. He reasoned that they've spent millions of dollars on charters, so they should be able to own them.
