After an early race wreck with Hailie Deegan ended JJ Yeley's run at Dover Motor Speedway, the #35 Toyota driver vented his frustration towards JD Motorsports driver Dawson Cram for being the epicenter of the unwanted feat.
The tenth Xfinity Series run on the 2024 calendar witnessed a caution-riddled race, which extended the 200-lap dash by 8 more laps. After swooping past frontrunner Carson Kvapil during the double overtime restart, Ryan Truex defended his 2023 win at Dover Motor Speedway.
On the other hand, JJ Yeley's stint lasted a mere five laps, courtesy of Dawson Cram turning into Hailie Deegan's #15 Ford and the domino effect collecting the 47-year-old's ride. After an early exit from the Monster Mile, a disappointed Yeley didn't hold back and slammed the JD Motorsports driver for his "stupidity."
He said (via Bob Pockrass on X):
"There's not a lot of soft things when it comes to Dover but to get wrecked in someone else's mistake [on] Lap 5. Not why I was here."
Yeley elaborated, taking a jibe at the #4 Chevy driver, saying:
"Stupidity. I followed him from the start, he was having a hard time holding his lane. His racetrack awareness isn't there."
Dawson Cram releases data after FOX misses Dover wreck with Hailie Deegan and JJ Yeley
The Lap 5 wreck damaged the #15 Ford's front left fender, but Deegan completed her run. However, for JJ Yeley, his Dover run suffered the most damage with the rear bumper barely clinging to his #35 Toyota after he got slammed into the outside wall of turn 1.
Yeley believed the driver responsible for the wreck was Dawson Cram. Furthermore, nobody had access to the footage of the exact happening as FOX failed to broadcast the early race wreck, and the weekend ended based on a subjective notion.
Nonetheless, despite the scarcity of essential proof, Cram published his race statistics on X (previously Twitter), dismissing the claims that he was at fault. The video portrays the #4 Chevrolet beside JJ Yeley on the outside, while Hailie Deegan trailed ahead of the #35 Toyota.
As Yeley tried to overtake from the gap, Deegan closed in from the bottom and as a result got nudged by Dawson and ended up spiraling the Arizonian with her.
