Rick Hendrick recently revealed how he keeps himself motivated for more success. The Hendrick Motorsports founder was in conversation with Kelley Earnhardt on Dirty Mo Media.

The host asked the 75-year-old about the things that kept him inspired and motivated to go on and achieve more. It's worth mentioning that Hendrick has won over 300 Cup races and 14 Cup championships in drivers and owners titles.

Speaking about his driving factor, the 75-year-old cited Jeff Gordon's example, stating that the biggest reason is the fact that he's competitive. Hendrick said he doesn't want to see his company, be it on the racing side or on the automotive side, get 'stagnant.'

Instead, he claimed he wants to see it grow so it gives other people an opportunity to grow. Rick Hendrick elaborated on this sentiment as he said:

"I love seeing young people that started in sales that moved upto management, that are general managers now, helping me run a 100 dealerships. So I get a lot of enjoyment seeing a Chad Knaus as a tire changer and then a crew chief and then running the competitive side, same with Jeff Andrews, and same with Jeff Gordon. Seeing that kid come along that did a lot for us, won a ton of races, now he's a partner and gonna carry on in the racing space, and Marshall, my son-in-law who is involved, almost everything is supersmart, and my daughter now, she's the same way." Further speaking about this subject, Rick Hendrick said that with some of the things that are going on under the Hendrick umbrella, he has a lot of smart business people making those decisions.

Hendrick emphasized on the importance of giving his people a foundation and then watching them take advantage of that opportunity.

"That to me is the most rewarding part of what I do, is seeing people excel, and William Byron, Kyle Larson, Alex Bowman, Chase Elliott, growing up to be who he is, having Dale Earnhardt Jr. with me and you to build our business together, both automotive and racing. So that's the satisfcation I get, just seeing things develop," Hendrick described. [48:40]

Having said that, Rick Hendrick added that sometimes he has to take a step back and pause.

This was because he said he gets so caught up in the day to day workings, the meetings, and calls, that he doesn't get a chance to celebrate all that he has achieved in the last four decades, the championships and races he has won, and the people who he's grown.
