Tyler Reddick's wife Alexa DeLeon was hilariously shocked to see their son Beau resembling the fictional chocolatier magnate, Willy Wonka. This comes during NASCAR's peek into the regular season champion's off-track life following his confirmed Championship 4 ticket.
The 23XI Racing driver recently revived from being below the playoff cutline entering the Homestead-Miami race to making the final lap pass and securing his Phoenix spot. The crowd roared as the #45 Toyota driver did the victory burnouts before entering the victory lane and savoring his third Cup win this season.
A couple of days after the successful weekend, NASCAR shared an 'up close' version of Tyler Reddick's family, where Alexa prepared Beau to match Willy Wonka's appearance, the fictional character of Roald Dahl's book- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Notably, despite being aware, Alexa was surprised to see the final result.
"Here, can you hold this, Mr. Wonka? Because it's going to be like Wonka hat, we've just got to cut it," Alexa said while dressing up their kid.
However, after Beau donned the final piece, the hat, his mom was shocked.
"Let's see with a hat...Oh my gosh!" she said.
Meanwhile, Reddick explained that NASCAR is one of few motorsports that allows the drivers to bring their families and also outlined feeling "guilty" sometimes for treating his 4-year-old son as an adult.
"I saw the light and basically had to go up there and grab it": Tyler Reddick reflects on his last lap move that safeguarded his championship fight
Tyler Reddick entered the Homestead-Miami race under pressure to optimally perform following his Las Vegas Motor Speedway wreck, which marked his third DNF this season.
The #45 Toyota driver clinched the pole, stage 1 win, and a fourth-place finish in the second stage. Things were going smoothly until Reddick was asked to pit for fresh tires on Lap 252. It not only forfeited his lead but also jeopardized his Championship 4 race advancement.
However, Kyle Larson's spin on Lap 255 and the following pitstop under yellow propelled Reddick as the leader during the final restart. But Ryan Blaney took over to take the white flag as the leader. Nonetheless, while fighting hard for the lead, Blaney tried to move to the bottom lane and ended up opening the room for Reddick.
The 23XI driver immediately reacted and overtook from the top lane, collecting his eighth Cup Series win, putting the Team Penske rival in a virtual must-win situation at the upcoming Martinsville race.
"That last lap still blows my mind. I didn't know what my choices were going to be but when that opened up, I saw the light and basically had to go up there and grab it. I was going to drive in till I passed the No.12 (Blaney), or hit the wall, or all the above. Just man, can't believe it worked out the way it did," Reddick reflected on the final lap via SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (0:12).
Tyler Reddick's Phoenix entry also marked 23XI Racing's first Championship 4 race as a legitimate title contender since their debut at the 2021 Daytona 500.
