23XI driver Bubba Wallace recently congratulated his teammate Tyler Reddick, who secured a spot in the Championship 4 following a dramatic win in the Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Reddick, who was crowned the regular season champion, is the only 23XI driver competing in the playoffs.
Bubba Wallace competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, piloting the #23 Toyota for 23XI Racing. Over eight years, he's achieved eight career wins across NASCAR's top divisions, including two in the Cup Series. Though his 2024 season began with challenges, Wallace found his rhythm with stronger performances later in the season. However, despite these efforts, he ultimately did not qualify for the 2024 playoffs.
Pole sitter Tyler Reddick dominated the playoff race at Homestead-Miami. Reddick won the first stage, followed by his teammate Bubba Wallace in P2, and secured a top-five finish in stage two. Moreover, Reddick led 98 of 267 laps before driving down victory lane. Following his win, Wallace met the newly added Championship 4 driver, congratulating him warmly (via X, formerly Twitter)
"On to the Champ 4 LFG @TylerReddick!!"
23XI Racing's co-owner, NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan commented on Reddick's win, and his final lap move on reigning Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney for the lead, essentially taking 23XI to Phoenix for the showdown. Jordan said:
"Little kid drove his ass off. I'm proud of him. He just let go [on the final lap]. He just went for it, and I'm glad. We needed it," the 61-year-old said via NASCAR on NBC
Meanwhile, Bubba Wallace secured a P18 finish. However, he was witnessed leading the race in stage one for a couple of laps. Moreover, 23XI co-owner and playoff driver Denny Hamlin finished the race in P3.
Bubba Wallace's team owner, Denny Hamlin, reflects on Homestead race amid Tyler Reddick's Championship glory
Denny Hamlin, one of the most successful drivers on the grid, recently commented on his performance in the Straight Talk wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami. Hamlin started the race in P4 and finished just one position better than his start in P3.
Although Hamlin looked like one of the fastest cars on the grid, he could not consistently maintain his track position. Hamlin, who won stage two of the race, spoke with NASCAR and outlined his shortcomings at Homestead-Miami.
"I'm not really sure, tried to cover all lanes but just couldn't quite get off the corner as good as I needed to there on that short run, and short run wasn't my specialty all day obviously. But either way, controlling the race two to go, you got to try to find a way to finish it and I just didn't."
On being asked what he looks forward to as NASCAR heads to Martinsville for the Round of 8 finale, he responded:
"I mean yeah it's another opportunity and certainly, you're not out of it till till they throw the checkered flag at Martinsville."
Meanwhile, Bubba Wallace's teammate Tyler Reddick, made a race-winning move in the final lap, passing his team's co-owner Denny Hamlin in the process.
