Seven-time Cup Series champion Richard Petty's son Kyle Petty recently shared glimpses of the Petty Enterprise's reunion dinner on his X account. He celebrated the occasion with the team members and showcased his gratitude to them for leading the team on a path of success.

Petty Enterprises was founded in 1949 by NASCAR legend Lee Petty with his two sons, Richard and Maurice Petty. The team competed in the NASCAR Cup, Xfinity, and Craftsman Truck Series and was later owned by Richard Petty, his son Kyle Petty, and Boston Ventures.

The organization competed in stock car racing from 1949 to 2008 until its merger with Gillett Evernham Motorsports in January 2009. Before the merger, Petty Enterprises operated #43 and #45 Dodge Chargers. The team took the name Richard Petty Motorsports after partnering with Gillett Evernham Motorsports. In 2021, the team changed its name to Petty GMS Motorsports.

Two years after running as Petty GMS Motorsports, the team was rebranded as Legacy Motor Club in 2023. For 61 years, Petty Enterprise held the record for most wins in the series with 268 victories as a team. Years later, Hendrick Motorsports surpassed the record with 269 wins in the Coca-Cola 600 with Kyle Laron's victory in 2021.

Reflecting upon the success the team achieved in its prime Richard Petty's son captioned the post:

"One of my favorite nights of the year - our annual Petty Enterprises reunion dinner. These men and women mean so much to me. Without them, there was no Petty Enterprises. Thank you to my cousins Timmy, Ritchie and Mark for sharing stories about their dad, my uncle Maurice."

Legacy Motorsports has a three-car setup featuring two full-time drivers, John Hunter Nemechek, driving the #42 Camry, and Erik Jones, driving the #43, and Jimmie Johnson racing part-time, driving the #84 Toyota Camry.

"That was scary": Richard Petty's grandkids on taking the driving license test

Richard Petty's grandkids recently spoke about the "scary" part of taking the driver's license test in the Petty family. They highlighted that the NASCAR legend would get in the car with them to test their driving skills.

In an episode of a podcast hosted by Kyle Petty's kids, Austin and Montgomery, on the Petty Family Racing channel, joined by Sharon Farlow's kids, Hannah and Maggie, they highlighted how scared they were to get their license with Petty in the car.

"Every time we got our driver's license [...] he had to get us in the car. We have to pass the Richard Petty driving test. That was scary," stated Maggie [1:04].

She added that it was more stressful to have her grandfather, in the car than a driving instructor. Her sister Hannah hilariously added that Petty wore a driving helmet while testing their skills. She added:

"He took me somewhere way out here and then said, 'Get back to the house,' and I said, 'I don't know how to get back.' And he said, 'Too bad, you got to figure out. You should have been paying attention."

Maggie also highlighted the valuable advice the 200 Cup Series race winner shared with her while driving. She mentioned Petty advised her not to look behind and not to worry about the people riding while driving. Austin humorously added, "That's solid advice."

Petty's grandkids also recalled their speeding moments and pointed out they got 22 speeding tickets.
