NASCAR Cup Series driver Kyle Larson's son 10-year-old son, Owen, talked about his win at the Tulsa Shootout and his father's advice.

The 2021 Cup Series champion has three children with his wife Katelyn Sweet, Owen, Audrey, and Donald. Owen, the oldest of the three, won the Junior Sprint Heat Race this Wednesday, January 1. Starting from eighth place, he raced to the front and won more races than his father at the big micro racing event.

In an interview with FloRacing, he revealed Kyle Larson's advice about learning from a previous race where Kyle Busch's son Brexton won after starting sixth.

"So, when we were right here over at staging, he's telling me that, you know, I saw Brexton on the phone and he kind of jumped it. So, I was going to do the same thing, and it worked out for me and Brexton," Owen said. (01:00 onwards)
"And then once we got on the track, one time up to third, and then we catch up to the lap cars, and then the guys, I looked down at the one Z car, and then he's looking down to the inside, and then I got to make the move, and I just braked, lifted off the gas, and got to the lead," he added.

Kyle came in second at the A-Class Main Winged Heat Race in Tulsa. He started seventh and moved up but Frank Flud in the No. 81 car held him off in the final laps to win the race.

"It was really quick" - Kyle Larson on flying from Perth to Oklahoma

Kyle Larson won Australia's richest, $100,000 sprint car race at High Limit Racing's International debut in Perth this past weekend. He then flew over 20,000 miles to join the Tulsa Shootout in Oklahoma.

Larson, who finished third after starting in 10th place on the first day, talked about his hectic travel schedule in an interview with FloRacing.

"Yeah, it was really quick. I don’t know, the checkered flag was like 10 PM probably in Perth and then my flight was at like 5 in the morning. So, stayed up all night in the casino. Then yeah, headed to the airport and Perth to Sydney and then Sydney to LAX and then had a tight connection to get on the direct flight here. Yeah, then once I got here, straight to the building, ran around, got my pit pass and ran straight in to get my outlaw car," Kyle Larson said. (00:11)

Tulsa Shoot, which began on December 30, will run till Saturday.
