Amid the recent college football game between Tennesse and Ohio State, Ryan Blaney shared a video of a distraught-looking Bubba Wallace. Blaney and Wallace, while both rivals on the track in NASCAR, are close friends off the track.
Recently, the two friends watched the game between the Volunteers and the Buckeyes, which the team from Ohio won. Interestingly, Wallace, a diehard Vols fan, witnessed his team lose to the Buckeyes, which is Blaney's favorite. Ohio State Buckeyes won against Tennesse Volunteers with a score of 42-17.
In the video, Ryan Blaney uploaded on his Instagram story, Bubba Wallace was seen sitting pensively in front of the Television while the game was going on. He wrote on the story:
"Pain for the young Tenn. fan."
The 2023 Cup champion also added a small graphic on the story which attested his support for Ohio as it read:
"Go Buckeyes!"
Moreover, the spotter of Bubba Wallace, Freddie Kraft, also shared his remarks on the same game. He wrote on X:
"I’m glad the Tennessee fans showed up. The team on the other hand is nowhere to found. Bubba is sitting somewhere with a sore hand at the moment."
Bubba Wallace and Ryan Blaney's respective love for the Vols and the Buckeyes
In a 2016 collaboration between Bubba Wallace and Bristol Motor Speedway that also involved Tennesee Volunteers, the NASCAR driver opened up on his love for the team. Both parents of the current 23XI Racing driver have roots in Nashville.
And having a chance to represent the team he has supported all his life, Bubba Wallace was on cloud nine.
"This is a tremendous day for me to be here, to suit up, put the pads on and be a part of Team 120. I'm excited to be here. It's a very blessed day. It's really in my blood," Wallace said. "It is such a great experience to be a part of," he said.
On the other hand, his pal Blaney has also never shied away from his love for the Ohio State Buckeyes. In 2023, the Team Penske driver opened up on his love for football, and being from Ohio, he claimed he's a Buckeye fan who watches the Browns and the Bengals 'periodically.'
Blaney mentioned his admiration and interest in other sports and the athletes considering every sport is different. But at the end of the day, all of these different sports in his eyes are 'pretty similar.'
This is why Ryan Blaney said he finds it fun to go to other sports as a fan, after which he revealed he's a Buckeye fan who 'usually get grief' for that, something he wasn't sure about.
