As opposed to most sports with timeouts and a halftime break, racecar drivers stay in their cars for the duration of the race. Unfortunately for Parker Kligerman, it got the best of him when he acknowledged peeing in a car while the race was still ongoing.
Kligerman is a 34-year-old professional stock car racing driver who previously competed in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He drove the No. 48 Chevrolet Camaro for Big Machine Racing.
Per B/R Racing on Instagram, the Chevrolet pilot was asked whether he's been to the bathroom while racing. He answered yes and said:
"Only one time in USAC Midgets. I was under a red flag. I had to pee really bad. So we're stopped in the race track. I start peeing."
Unlike a NASCAR racecar, a midget car doesn't have an underbody. In turn, Kligerman's pee was leaking on the track, which caught the attention of a race official.
"And those cars have like no underbody or anything, and an official came up to me and said, 'Hey, you're leaking out of the back of the car.' And I said, 'Nah, nah, that's me, bro,'" Kligerman added.
He concluded:
"I've avoided it ever since. So to all my interior guys for the last 15 years, you're welcome for not being one of those guys that pees in every race."
Parker Kligerman didn't disclose which race the incident happened at. Although, the Connecticut native raced in the USAC Midgets in 2007 and 2008 before moving to the ARCA Menards Series full-time the following year.
Parker Kligerman plans to try endurance racing following NASCAR exit
After his ARCA Menards stint, Parker Kligerman spent most of his racing days in the Xfinity Series and Truck Series, with some entries in the Cup Series. But with the announcement that he's not returning to NASCAR next year, Kligerman said he would love to try other racing series, targeting a Rolex 24 entry.
For context, the Rolex 24, also known as the 24 Hours of Daytona, is an annual endurance race held at the Daytona International Speedway. The 24-hour race is sanctioned by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA).
Speaking with DJD Reloaded host Carla Gebhart, Kligerman said (via Dirty Mo Media):
"My decision was far more personal and internal. So, you know for me, I'd love to just scratch that itch a little bit, I'd love to do a little bit of racing next year. Trying to put together a Rolex 24 effort which would be really cool, go do some sports cars, that's a bucket list item for me." [0:11]
"I love motorsports, I want to be involved in the sport for as long as I live. It's my passion, and I've been able to make it my career. I hope to be involved in some capacity, I can't say exactly what it looks like yet but I feel confident that things will line up that allow me to be involved," Parker Kligerman said.
Kligerman concluded the 2024 season with a Round of 12 playoff run that infamously ended at the Charlotte roval track. He amassed five top-5 and 15 top-10 finishes.
