The NASCAR fanbase was left in splits after witnessing NBA legend Michael Jordan in the victory lane for the first time this season as 23XI Racing driver Tyler Reddick bagged the GEICO 500 win at the Talladega Superspeedway.

The famed basketball scholar having a staggering net worth of $3.2 billion (via Forbes) didn't shy away from expressing his joy on his co-owned team's major triumph of the season.

The Sunday race was initially led by Michael McDowell who became the polesitter second time this season as his fastest lap time of 52.609 seconds placed him on the front row. As the 188-lap run progressed, the two stages went smoothly with no incident sufficient enough to raise caution.

Stage 1 was swept by Austin Cindric and Stage 2 by Joey Logano. At the end of the final stage, McDowell led the pack until he could practically see the checkered flag. With a lead of 36 laps to his name, the Front Row Motorsports driver was on the final straight before etching the victory, but in an attempt to block Brad Keselowski's move, the former spun out, ending his weekend with a DNF.

Tyler Reddick was in proximity of the final lap wreck but managed to sneak out of the wreck-fest and clinch 23XI Racing's maiden victory this season. Shortly after the joyful moment, co-owner Denny Hamlin posted a video on his X (previously Twitter) account about finally getting Michael Jordan to victory lane.

MJ's first visit to the victory lane this year quickly gained traction among the fanbase and reactions poured in. One fan took a funny jibe at Jordan and commented about planning for more wins to come. Perhaps referencing Jordan's double three-peats when it came to winning NBA championships in the 1990s, they wrote:

"He likes Victories in 3’s so, might as well plan on a couple more."

One fan took note of the stark difference between Tyler Reddick's height compared to Jordan's, writing:

"Never realized how tall MJ was, or is how short you are and @TylerReddick are……. Congratulations guys!!"

A fan expressed his confusion regarding the ownership of 23XI Racing and wrote:

"What’s the split on ownership with MJ? Is it 50/50 or does he own the majority?"

One fan reiterated the fact that Jordan has a plethora of NBA champions, commenting:

"A lot of championships in that victory lane 🏀🤣"

One fan seemingly savored when Denny Hamlin emerged into the arms of the 6 ft 6 inch Michael Jordan and wrote:

"Bro just held in the arms of MJ, he ain’t time for small talk w uncle Denny 😂😂"

A fan apparently wanted to see Hamlin win either as a driver or as an owner and added:

"If it couldn’t be the 11 in victory lane I’m glad it was one of the 23XI cars 👌"

Michael Jordan takes dig at Denny Hamlin's wreck for birthing Reddick's win

Tyler Reddick's footing into the season started on a lackluster note with a P29 and P30 finish at the season-opener Daytona 500 and at the next race at Atlanta, respectively. However, the #45 Toyota driver improved his runs as the season progressed, registering four top-5s, seven top-10s, and now a win at the GEICO 500.

On Lap 157 Tyler Reddick, Erik Jones, Bubba Wallace, John Hunter Nemechek, Martin Treux Jr., and Denny Hamlin were swerving in a single file, when a nudge from behind the Alabama native resulted in a spiraling effect, collecting the #11 Toyota, Jones, and Wallace.

After narrowly escaping Toyotas' multi-car crash, Reddick brought the field to green on Lap 162 and from there, he charged for the win. However, the odds of winning were slim until the last straightway as McDowell led the pack, but after the Front Row Motorsports driver spun out, the 23XI Racing driver dominated on his way to a Cup Series victory.

Reflecting on his driver's remarkable feat, Michael Jordan took a hilarious dig at Hamlin's wreck, saying (via Alan Cavanna on X):

"Today we proved them wrong. Actually he [Denny Hamlin] did a good job on wrecking so we could get upfront. It was actually pretty good. I think Tyler did a good job, unfortunately Bubba could't finish [DNF], but the whole team did a good job."
